CGNATS - Writeup

article

Well it was one hell of a long weekend. But it was a good one as we were only one team down as sponnys secret 1.6 super slut team didn't quite make it into Brisbane to take the 10th team spot on the table. First up we had the Saturday Razerzone open competition where 9 teams battled it out for a swag of Razer gear and a chance for 2 places in the Sunday pro competition.

But let's wind it back a little and take stock of Friday, it was a death defying drive, we ran over a curb, we ran a stop sign, ran many orange lights even with them going orange when we were 5 kilometres from the intersection Jaydee barely managed to get me there alive. But once I got there it was fantastic to see so many teams there already going at it preparing, we had MEKA.Tt who were keen for a scrim after claiming they had been annihilating everyone in the pre lan (they did). We also had a lot of the P teams there too getting warm-ups and a fair chunk of everyone else that came for the LAN come in Friday night and there was a great vibe going into to the weekend.

There were some great games going down on Saturday with the competition getting off to a relatively smooth start and the groups played out somewhat as expected except Encore dropping down the table a lot more than expected, in fact after a 16-5 loss to Decibel.Streamline they dropped right out of the competition and walked out. Infamous were the standouts in group A where they played great CSS and took the #2 spot behind MEKA.Tt. MEKA.Tt of course with their weeklong prep were very strong all day and finished the groups relatively unscathed, Decibel had some great games too most notably the 16-5 on Encore that made them rage quit, and the Voxe female team the long shot of the group managed to get a tie in vs. Decibel .Streamline.

MEKA.Tt

That was group A though and heading into group B things were a little bit tighter, the biggest underperformer of the day had to be Dynamic with their 1 win coming from a forfeit but the guys were great competitors on the day. The standout of course was Crux Crew who went undefeated and all day let everyone know it even though they were in a closed room you could still hear them. WUXIA was of course one of the louder teams with none other than PeetyG in the chair and after I predicted a top finish came in second after a 16-12 loss to Crux. Team Equinox needs a special mention here too after they played some solid CSS winning one vs. Dynamic and...

Gamer Institute is here :)

article

Australians contribute to the global competitive League of Legends world

Budding Australian entrepreneurs and top Australian professional gamers are hoping to contribute to the tremendous growth of the Riot game League of Legends (LoL). Founded by three Australians, Gamer Institute, has teamed up with top Australian LoL players to help educate those wanting to become pro or win bragging rights over their friends.

Launched today, Gamer Institute's (gamerinstitute.com) educational content is designed, developed and delivered by the best professional gamers all over the world (also known as GI Pros).

At launch, Gamer Institute is offering hours of free educational videos for its first game, League of Legends. With promise of hours of extra videos added on a monthly basis. Gamers will also have the opportunity to book custom one-on-one tutorial lessons from these GI Pros for more targeted tips and tricks.

Core to the launch are Australian GI Pros; top player Daniel "Kingpin" King and team Sequential Gaming (SQL). These players are producing some of the first videos for the Institute's students all over the world. Kingpin is one of the best LoL players in Australia, ranking highly on CyberGamer.com.au ladders and performing exceptionally in the recent Intel Extreme and World Cyber Games (WCG) competitions.
SQL meanwhile has quickly become one of the best LoL teams in Australia since forming in 2011. The team recently won the WCG Australian national competition in September 2011, and competed in Korea against the world's best.

"All five team members are very committed to competing to be one of the best teams in the world. On the educational front, I think our team members can bring tremendous value to aspiring gamers. We've already helped a number of other Australian teams set up and would love to do more." Says SQL team captain Rusty.

Nations Cup XV

user

Nations Cup XV
The groups for NC XV have been announced and our group is a tough one however I am sure our lads will do us proud.

Hopefully at least one of the teams in our group will agree to playing on our US west coast server but I have a feeling (like in previous NCs) we may be forced to move it to the east coast or be forced to play on EU servers. Not ideal but for those in the know etpro anti-lag can not only be tough to play with but also against.

CyberGamer welcomes DotA 2!

user

Hey Everyone!

To those that regular these forums welcome back, and to any new comers, welcome to the DotA 2 section of CyberGamer!

Over the past fortnight, there's been some deep discussion happening over in the admin forums regarding our little DotA 2 section here on CG. As a result, we have drafted a rule set for a CGo ladder to be constructed, and we aim for this to kick off on the 1st of February. The full rule set can be found here.:

This drafted rule set is entirely open for discussion, and is completely subject to change. If you feel anything has been missed or we've let something slip, please let us know either in this thread or by swinging either lychees:
greek:
shieldeh:
or myself:
a quick PM.

Our 5v5 Captains Mode ladder will be put up sometime later next week/late January, so once it's open for registration feel free to add your team so we can get this competition started! If you are a new DotA player or are simply looking to touch up your old skills and get familiar with the game, head over to Lychees' resource thread here:

Also we're actively trying to get a hold of multiple beta keys to give out to CG members, those particularly keen on competing. If you know someone or you yourself are capable of attaining multiple keys, we'd love to talk to you. If you have any further questions regarding the ladder, the rules, or anything DotA 2 related, please contact any of us without hesitation.

Steam details:

siql - mystq_
lychees - lychees
greek rambo - Greek_Ramb0
shieldeh - Snipe_from_afar

What else can you expect from us in the near future? We're in talks with fray and N9 amongst other teams to get you guys a BO3 showcase match for the CyberGamer ladder, expect more on this soon. If you feel your team may be interested in getting involved in this, please contact me:

Regards,

DotA 2 Admin team
