Have you guys been together for a while now or have you rotated a few guys in and out as you have built yourselves up to the team you have now?
As you probably know we did two major changes in 2009, first GeT_RiGhT took over ins position and a few weeks later Gux replaced Archi. It was not a comfortable feeling cutting two friends, but I think both parties agreed on it and everyone is happy today.
Congratulations on another strong performance over in Moscow in the Kode5 global finals, going into the tournament how did you think you would go? Were you confident you got a good group to start in seeing that it's a lose your out setup?
I dont think that much going into a tournament, we know what we can do and if we keep our heads calm and just do what we are good at, rounds will start coming in and matches will be won.
What's next on the schedule for fnatic? Will there be some well earned downtime for the team leading up to WCG 2009 or do you have a busy schedule or any big events you're planning to register for?
Im not sure at the moment, tournaments we havent yet heard about will probably popup and we will attend them. For for the next 2-3 weeks I think we will enjoy some free time and just focusing on real life things.
Leading into tournaments and matches its known by record what maps fnatic are proven to be strong on but as a team which map do you really enjoy playing the most?
I never thought I would say this, but inferno seems to be our strongest map recently. We feel comfortable going into any matchup on this map and even that we fail to do well as CT we know that our T side is extremly strong.
As a successful Counterstrike team that is really strong on the international scene, what is some advice to the younger guys you would like to give them to help them with there game? Is there anything in particular that your team has focused on as you have grown that has really produced some great results when it comes to turning training into victories in big matches?
My advice is always to only play if you enjoy it, and you should share this philosophy with the team you are playing with. You should find a team with your own skill and motivation level and just start from there. Honestly, noone ever gave me advice how to be successful in gaming, it just happend for me, and im sure it will for the guys who enjoyed CS and played as much as I did.
Now we all know your manager Sam Mathews is an Australian, can we do a little myth busting here Patrik, is fnatic an Australian team or a global esports team that's offices are "in" Australia?
You are right, Sam is like 50% Australian and 50% English. I would say we are global esport team with offices at several parts of the world including Australia. However I´ve personally been unlucky to yet visit down under, I would really love to.
One more and something a little more light hearted, when you guys travel to events what do you get up to outside of the arena? Do you guys go to clubs together? Tours of the cities? Or you really are 100% focused and are heading to the nearest LAN centre to get good solid training sessions in?
Travelling is a big part of my gaming, also one of the main reasons im still into this. My passion has always been to see new places and to go out for a drink after the tournament is played. So my straight answer is yes, we combine our tournaments with sightseeing and club jumping.
Once again a huge thanks from all of us here at Cybergamer and best of luck to you and the team moving forward.
Cheers mate, let me use this opportunity to thank our sponsors MSI, Steelseries, Bestpoker, CM Storm and Ugame.net.
Thats it for now that was cArn from Team Fnatic on this edition of taking it to the streets, stay tuned for more articles from the world of gaming.
