[p]Merry Christmas and have a happy new year Cybergamers.
Over 2009, the Xbox section of Cybergamer has grown exponential rate. We've seen thousands of members join and help build this site to what it is now. We've also seen staff members come and go. Some of them that can be said to be pinnacles of Australian Xbox e-Sports and some who abused their power, often seeing them being exiled from Cybergamer.
One of the main members we all looked up to was RJ Aus, the founder of the Xbox section, who put a substantial amount of time into modelling a hub for Xbox gamers to meet others to either casually play a game or go head to head in clan matches. Unfortunately, due to inactivity, RJ has stepped down as the Head Xbox Admin only to be replaced by two other icons in the community.
One of these icons is a well known name who built his way up just by being a moderator in the Call of Duty 4 section. Rohizle built momentum by writing his famous interviews, suggesting great ideas to expand Cybergamer's horizons as well as many other great tasks that by the time you've finished reading this, it will already be 2010.
Another of the 2 new head Xbox admins is none other than The BEARD DUKE! Who has silently involved himself with the administrational side of Cybergamer to build his way up with the power of his notorious beard and dildo in his hands.
During 2009, we've seen some amazing things happen. We've seen the launch of multiple ladders for games such as Guitar Hero, Forza, Street Fighter IV, Halo Wars, Rainbow Six Vegas, Madden 10 and the most recent, Tekken 6 and many others. We've also seen new ladders being added to old sections and new features such as the PUG (Pick Up Game) as well as the expansion of the forums.
We also saw the first ever Xbox Cybergamer Invitational League, consisting of 10 teams. Vicious Gaming, Team ViraL, Uprising, Fray Legends, Thug Life, Excel Gaming, eXtortion, Code Red and aspiRe all battled it out over weeks and weeks of insanely competitive matches, all for the prize of 700 Australian Dollars. In the end, eXtortion proudly took the win, defeating Uprising in the grand final.
On the topic of matches, who could forget the amazing feat that the one and only, Bio "Booya" Acid has landed for the community. This man has brought Australian Xbox e-Sports to a new level by the power of his voice, shoutcasting hundreds of matches to the community. I'm sure that everybody has listened to one of his shoutcasts and is aware of how amazing Acid is.
Speaking of Acid and how he used to keep the Xbox Community updated about ingame content, Cybergamer has had an amazing year for articles. We've had RJ's ladder updates, Acid's content updates, Rohizle's interesting interviews and now we've got our own review team, consisting of Twilife and myself.
2010 is yet another year where we have the opportunity to let our community expand and with that, we've got a fresh new year so if you're one of those people who think that they are frowned upon by the community, here's your chance to have a brand new chance.
On behalf of the Xbox staff, I'd like to wish everybody a merry, merry christmas and a spectacular 2010. As far as plans for 2010 go, one might ask about CGi and boy will this be epic. We've already got announcements lined up so stay tuned and get ready to rock and Rick roll.
