New Article!

[p]One thing has struck me over the last few years and oddly enough some BFBC2 beta cup entries were a bit of a reminder. There was a time when forums (mainly gamearena) featured more writeups, back in the good old days most matches came with writeups. These were either insanely long (lol memories of my two pagers which included detailed information about what i was eating/drinking/wearing during the match) or just short writeup saying GG you were too strong etc.[/p][p]I see these pop up in COD results a bit but usually only for things like CGi or event matches but there isnt any real reason why it shouldnt be done for every game. Here is an example of a short one:[/p][p]http://www.cybergamer.com.au/forums/thread/52235/CGi:-BushRangers-vs-vitaL/[/p][p]Here is an exmaple of a long one:[/p][p]http://www.cybergamer.com.au/forums/thread/52279/CGi:-Australian-Universal-Soldiers-vs-Send-for-Roar/[/p][p]I think writeups are key to GG's and GG's mean a more close knit community because as much as we all aim to roll the other team not alot of games are just ezmode and really were alot of fun. So what happened to writeups? i noticed that as banter became more and more commonplace the writeups started to drop off where teams just CBF doing a writeup saying GG as the other team usually features 1-2 members of someone who dedicates there time to trolling you or your team on the forums.[/p][p]There have been some epic writeups over the years with some of them being awesome reads highlighting some of the dumb moments and some of the lol moments which really does making gaming more enjoyable.[/p][p]Be good to go back to the days when GG's were had and we enjoyed the game enough to write a few lines about what happened so the people who were interested in the result can get an idea of what happened wouldnt it?[/p]

writeups back in the cod gamearena days were good... but then the cod community was better back then in general (not bait, just fact)

fascinating! Thank god the CS:S team is fan-freaking-tastic

NevilleBartos says:10:20pm 10/3/10:

would be cool to see the writeups take off again, might bring back a bit of respect between teams, something which is clearly lacking in CoD these days, we do them for pretty much all our matches but they're posted in our private forums, dont really see the point in making it public when so many (CoD) teams are too arrogant/emo for friendly banter/chat.

True that. Was also going to add, I think the difference back then was the community often had no idea who had won matches or even played until the write ups were posted due to a lack of Xfire/CG/Gamestah to spread the news.

"games we enjoyed"

name a game you enjoy enough to write a write up

CaptainRufus says:12:43am 15/3/10:

@ Kot, I enjoy most games enough to do a write up on. I just usually forget to do one. But reading this article really does make me think back to the old days, and I think I will take it upon myslef to try harder to get write ups posted for each match from now on. Even if their only a few lines long.
