This will be the place to look to for all you FAQ. Also things to improve our competition will be greatly appreciated, whether it be criticism or complements. CyberGamer wants to know.
(however do note that this WILL NOT be the place for information about the CG Ladder info, Dates and thus to do with that will be placed in another topic)
What are the standard classes for use in Team Fortress 2 Competitively.
Well you will mainly see the use of 4 classes. That is 2 scouts, 2 soldiers, 1 demoman and 1 medic. Although this can be varied to use of different maps.
What maps are used in competitive play?
In short TF2 uses only one type and that is Control Point maps, however this can be then separated into two groups, Push maps and Attack/Defence maps. Push maps are mainly 5 point capture maps. Examples of these are Well, Badlands, Granary. A/D maps are Dustbowl and Gravelpit.
What are the different types of status a team can have on the ladder.
There are main types.
- Free - Free status refers to a team which can be challenged. A team will usually get this either after losing there protected status or after winning a challenge.
- Protected - This status is given to teams who have successfully defended a challenge from a lower ranked team. This lasts for Forty-Eight (48.) hours, in which the team cannot be challenged. Protected teams can still issue challenges.
- Vulnerable - This status is given to teams who have failed to defend or win a challenge. However there is two variants of this status.
1. If you challenge a team above you and lose, you will be vulnerable for Forty-Eight (48.) Hours.
2. If you are defending a challenge, and lose that challenge, you will be vulnerable for Twelve (12) Hours.
Vulnerable teams cannot issue challenges.
- Challenging - This status is when a team is challenging a team up to 50% or 4 places above their current rank. In order to gain that rank they must win the match.
- Defending - This status is when a team has been challenged and has to attempt to hold there rank by winning the match.
How do I record a Demo?
Simple. Firstly make sure you have enabled console in keyboard/advanced. Then once thats done, all you need to do is open console before your game, then type as follows.
record "myteam_v_anotherteam_cgo"
Note however the quotation can be changed to whatever you please, as long as there are no spacing in the naming of the record file. Once you have done your match, open console and type stop or stopdemo to stop the recording. You can then either go to the file which will be located in your Team Fortress 2/tf folder or press Shift+F2 and click load to open up and play the demo ingame.
