I honestly do not see what the big deal is about cod1 being the best in the cod series. Yes, i only played a few scrims with rcon the other night but that pretty much gave me a solid first impression that the game isn't as amazing as everyone claims it is.

I would first like to say the graphics are not as bad as i expected (due to everyone telling me how shit it looked beforehand), but the gameplay....where to begin!

I think tal mentioned before about the 'invisible man' and i finally understood what he meant. WHERE AM I GETTING SHOT FROM? You can't see because you are getting leaned/bobbed constantly, and it is one of the 2 ways to get kills (other way mentioned later).

So i was playing with 100 ping, apparently everyones ping is higher in the game, even rcon who usually play with 20's were playing with 50-60 ping. I was told i had to aim about 2 bodies ahead of someone to be able to hit them. While that may be one of the ways to get better at the game, i decided to try a different approach (after tagging constantly with the rifle)....AND SO BEGINS THE EPIC SPAM.

Say hello to the PPSH, best weapon in the game. Yes. Think of it as a 74u which has 71 bullets in 1 clip, and hits every shot while unscoped...................................................................... at any distance.

I know you will say, oh but it was just a scrim, but the fact is i do not understand how you can say cod4 is spammy and takes no skill while i can use a gun like the ppsh, NOT AIM AT ALL, run around recklessly and randomly and manage to undergo the process of ownage.

In conclusion: Cod1 is an overrated piece of shit.

*waits for the cod1 wash ups to post "you're just shit at cod1" when in reality the only reason they think cod1 is the greatest game ever invented is because they were utterly shit at every other cod released*

The "invisible man" thing is extremely irritating when you first play. However, once you have been playing for a few weeks and have learned the maps, it won't be an issue. I'm not a particularly spectacular COD1 player, but I always know where I'm being shot from - it becomes second nature after a while.

Noone pretends that the PPSH is skillful - it's a cannon with a near-endless clip. I would say, however, that a decent rifler will almost always beat a PPSH. Regardless, the PPSH is only available in three out of the eight or so competitive maps.

play cod5 imo

leading is possibly the biggest learning curve in the game. I am struggling, I used to play with under 40 ping now sitting at 100 and cant hit shit.

Personally Cod1 was a joy to play and havent really liked a game to that extent scince. all the rest in the series just didn't feel as good or as enjoyable as the original.

sure, Cod1 has its bugs, LL/bobbing etc, but its in the rules that your not allowed to LL / Bob so therefore it matter very little.

some people call LL and bob when there simply leaning left or standing up and crouching.

id imagine most people, like my self, enjoyed cod1 and want to return to it for that pure fact.

in reality your not gonna love cod1 unless you played it when it was played. I started in cod1 and then tried playing CSS, which is know is an extreemly popular game, but i HATED it. The diference is i DO understand that i hate it because i didnt play it soon enough and if you dont like cod1 THIS IS WHY . BL, cant change it, you will probly never like the game.

O and to combat "invisable man" just bob the ******* corner and see if sum1 bites. not hard

Another thing you need to factor in when considering the whole "COD1 nostalgia" thing is that the quality of competition back in COD1's prime was so much higher than it has ever been since.

You have no idea what it was like to see the community degenerate from its peak in COD1 to the absolute trash it became in COD2, COD4 and now COD5.

(And yes, I'm aware that there was some cross-over between the above teams).
