Well after my stint in BFBC2 i think the game has alot of potential i think there are some key gameplay issues that are really hampering my enjoyment
- Noob tubes ...
- RPG ...fine its made to destroy tanks but can we reduce the splash a little
- the way when your talking hits the gun flies all over the place but your bullets fly true? (drawing red dot on your screen and ignoring the gun/crosshair = win)
Otherwise i think the game is good, the gameplay is fun if not a little spammy, i think the assault class carrying ammo was a mistake because of the tubers rather see engineer as a resupply man. The maps are pretty good too, they flow relatively well although some of them require alot of ground pounding betwen suicide zones where there always seems to be a ridge before open ground so you have to constantly wait for vehicles to move anywhere.
The concept of spawning on any squad member is somewhat noobish though as it turns squadwork upside down as there is nobody to keep alive as no matter what happens your bound to find someone to spawn on. It makes defending insanely hard as unless you decisively kill everything near you you dont have time to heal before a full squad is coming at you again.
In some ways i feel the game is a bit of a daddy gamer game with big guns effects and all the features geared around making the game less challenging but hey thats dices perogative. As long as i can make a passworded server and organise a scrim and limit the daddy gamer unlocks im happy in the end. I was more than happy to see kits with only one grenade more than anything, noob tubes if nerfed a bit will be fine aswell as you only get a few.
As a tournament organiser and administrator i just feel pretty disappointed overall, in alot of ways i feel the beta was more functional than the full release. Tournaments seemed to be _completely_ non consideration with EA/DICE as the core elements of tournaments short of the gameplay are missing. BF2 wasnt perfect on release but after all the hooplah about DICE not making it a console port and working on the PC engine for BFBC2 i think that was a falsity, they werent working on an engine they were working on a console emulator engine with some functions for mouse/keyboard/joystick.
I can understand the above as EA did a massive amount of firing and little hiring last year trying to reign in its losses so in the end they made a game to suit the masses something that looks impressive aimed at getting the maximum amount to buy it to drive sales, common business sense to a company that dumped a heap of employes no 12 months ago.
But here we are with 200 teams and a revived battlefield community, lets hope time prevails and we see the game slowly upgraded into a tournament friendly title before the community starts to dwindle again.
