Keep and eye out for other posts aswell!

Attention!
Welcome back ladies and gentlemen just a short announcement from myself again!

Fresh news of the BETA being publicly open again!
Grab your copy of Counter Strike: Source BETA here >>Click Me<<

The lines been open for a few hours now and Its not certain when It will be closed again!

[Updates Updates Updates]
They HAVE fixed a few things that you should hear about NOW!

  • Strafing [Fixed]
  • Weapons and FireRate [Fixed] but slightly changed.
  • Optional Death/Kill cam [Added] instead of forced.
  • Quick switching [Enabled] But still a little buggy. Could be added as an option for competitive play.
  • Bunny Hopping [Enabled] Not removed!

So far these are only some of the most prominate features that have been recognisable but I invite you to take a look and see yourself!

In the coming few days/weeks I will post an extensive amout of information and definatly more detailed than this particular post regarding the following:

  • Optimising FPS on the orangebox
  • Creating the setup right for you without losing features and GamePlay Quality
  • Keeping it competitive and turning off all those "Play things that clutter up the game"
  • How to move your Original Counter Strike: Source configurations over to the beta without losing your current keyboard setup and MORE.

Thanks Brenton 'Mz' Smith - Keeping you POSTED!

regarding that, isn't it cl_interpolate the only command that doesn't exist anymore? im pretty sure that was the command i seen posted that was removed..

saying that, removing it from current configs should make them compatible with css beta?

Hey SoupNahtz -
A quick answer off the top of my head would say yes there is no problems with that method but if you dont mind a read I think I might be able to clear a few things up in my short and unorganized rambling about your question but I am not sure if it will clear anything up for you.

Apologies in advanced, I am a little tired and Ive had to play a little with this too but I tried to get this out of my head in one piece without "@#$%^ng it up too much" so please don't pick me apart if anything is wrong hehe!x :]
_____________________________________________________________________________
As far as I am aware so far there have been several other commands that have been removed. Similar to "cl_interpolate" although there is not official list of these commands as yet. Simply removing these commands from your current configuration and copying it across seems to work although experiencing a few difficulties myself it could be slightly more difficult in regards to particular things being changed.

There are a few files in which are most common to many players setup. These files are usually located in the CFG folder unless otherwise specified.

  • autoexec.cfg
  • config.cfg
  • config_default.cfg

In a little more detail for you regarding "How to correctly [import] your current Counter Strike: Source configurations into the BETA"

The easiest way to do this is have a look and see what is different using the good old notepad.

You can open both your current Counter Strike: Source configuration file and the BETA's at the same time.

Replacing the "default bound keys" in config.cfg with your own is completely fine and will in most cases work assuming that your "binds" do not contain any "commands" that are invalid although you will find these eventually and removing them from your configuration manually seems to be the only way without building upon the default config.cfg supplied with the BETA.

Warning!
When loading other configuration files. For example if a .cfg file is located in another "subfolder" like (cfg/binds/binds.cfg) they will not load at current as there seems to be an issue with externally located .cfg files.

Apologies:
I'm sorry if any of this information seems a little muddled or confusing I am very tired at the moment and may have made a mistake although I am sure its 99% correct. Please PM me for any further help if you need it? or Would like to request any Help on another issue regarding CSS Beta.

There will be a much greater planned explanation on this topic and I'm sure that any issues relating to this matter will be covered.

Until next time Mz.

i got my controls to auto load in my autoexec, well the only one different control i use that isn't default lol, i copied it over to the css beta everything seems to work fine, however the crosshair seems a bit different on css beta..

Kinda new to css configing along with css itself (damn cod background)

my current autoexec is quite small, only added commands that ive read are good lol.. but dunno if they really are..

SoupNhatz those commands should be fine. For now the BETA needs very little attention to anything regarding game performance by lowering the standard of anything for example removing textures etc.

In the next few days I hope to get a full tutorial written up on this that should and could be added to an autoexec.cfg to enhance the performance of the game whilst keeping it pretty.

For those LOW end users struggling with FPS issues I will also go over some things that might help with that. For now user control and movement seems to be the only issues that need be touched upon in the slightest to get everyone using the beta comfortable. So for now keep an eye out and hopefully my future post will help you in some of these broader areas :] they are not too far away "I promise".

Your exec looks a little all over the shop but those commands will still do something haha. I will explain more soon, In regards to working commands I'll post up my autoexec.cfg
Everything seems to be working!

My Autoexec.cfg - Nothing here is compulsory but works for me with no errors. I cannot promise that you will have the same success if you use this but hey <3 hope this helps!

My configuration for "normal" source is a little different. But what I have posted above is very similar, Its really just a cut down version to work with the BETA. I would love to hear how you went if you tried it out on the BETA as well just to see if you had any errors.

Edit: "Thats great ;] hope there wern't any errors for you either!"
