After playing this game casually for over a month im left speechless what can i say?

I'll try to summarise my disgust and horror in words but i just dont know...

The term Noob Friendly comes to mind why would i say that though? Maybe because there is apsolutely NO base building and 3 or 4 units you can build at the start of a game you can advances through the tiers up to tier 3 where you have access to a MAXIMUM of 12 units.......

12 ******* units are you kiddin me?

12 units max no base building and some shitty rpg style of hero selection between 3 heros for each army oh and about the armys if like me you have played dawn of war up until soulstorm to get access to all the armys well well well get ready to dig into your pockets for whats likely another 4 expansions i mean that is worse the world of warcraft at release the games will most likely be 100 dollers a pop and minimum 4 or more expansions to get armys that you have already played on an actual rts.

To call dow2 a rts is a disgrace to C&C supcom starcraft and any real rts that requires mountainloads of micro to master with dow2 however you only need to control your units.... in dow1 how you would win would be microing 5 builders bring up gens and LPs wile microing advancing through the tiers constructing a decent defence and organising your attack plan and do any of you remember those kasy lutien games where you would be just laying down some ownage with those monoliths or if u roled eldar getting an entire fire dragon army in behind the enemys base and just destroying him from behind does anyone remember the good ol days? Coz u cant do that anymore u have access to 12 units. 12 ******* UNITS some heroes can call in different units but the point is its just too small scale too noob friendly and too dumbed down the very first day i played i organised a very very simple stratergy for orcs which was upgrade warboss with anti vehicle weapon spam slugga boys to counter infantry and advance through the tiers asap for the looted tanks it was just so easy.

it was frustratingly easy and it worked it worked so well...

the sluggas would control all early game resources and enemy T1 units. the warboss would silence anything T2 and once i got T3 lootas just killed everything.

it was just so simple and ill begin playing wow before i buy the next ******* expansion.I hope dow3 reverts back to dow1 gameplay mechanics or its a sad sad day for rts players everywhere..

discuss

I'm happy that relic took the game in a different direction then from the original DOW. DOW2 was good at the start, but with the lack of variety it can become boring and you just end up doing the same build order over and over again. Hopefully a big expansion and maybe some more patches can keep it on it's toes.

I wouldn't go as far as saying it's a disgrace.

It's good but not great.

there is tons of variety at the height of the series dark crusade soulstorm was just dodge adding armys that dont fit in and arent wanted.

anyway at the height of the series dark crusade there was 7 armys of variety and each army had about 15 structures each with different units and upgrades thats plenty of variety as for using the same build order perhaps organise some scrims against people better then you and the build order probaly wont work as their is a way to counter everything in dow1.

I wont be buying any of the expansions unless it is changing the gameplay dramaticly.

Did you think when the game came out even now that the races would be balanced.

Each race counters another if you haven't realised, you just have to play it right, even DOW2 can take skill and mind power.

The races are unbalanced, but you can still counter anything they throw at you.

Ill repeat myself so im understood.

I was romantasising the past where techniques like that were incredibly risky as you would cap off your squad cap with simply fire dragons but if it payed off one of your oponents bases was compleatly ****ed as most of his forces would be mid map holding ground.

You mention micro-managing in your original post. Micro-managing doesn't have to be there in to make it an RTS game, i'm happy that there isn't any after playing games like BFME2, supcom etc. A game shouldnt just be one with who can control the mass amount of units and upgrade the fastest.

I agree on other things though like certain units being overpowered like the warboss and i hope there isnt going to be so many expansions i gotta fork money out for.

U guys are taking it the wrong way. this game is mad, i have had countless good and epic games. There is shitloads of micro in Dow2 and thats practically wat its based around. So stop bagging it and take it on the chin. Yes it needs balancing and all but its a solid game.
And Grand master if u think Wb sluggs is unbeatable. think again. many times again.....

Rofl moonbies your act as if your better then me check my gamecard i havent lost a match im not some whiney bitch who takes a glance at the game and errects a wall of text i actually play the game and ive played dow1 for years.as for Wb sluggs in a 1v1 i'd like to see you beat it but i got bored with that strat and realised it was beatable so im focusing on Wb shoota slugga micro mainly on shootas i saw a pro micro them and realised how much better they are but honestly it has nothing on dow1 although i enjoy owning the noobs who are so bad they cant even win dow2.after playing it for another week or so i must admit i enjoy microing 4-5 squads to perfection rather then an army of around 25 squads coz the maps are hugely downsized the downscailed armys fit in.I just wont break a sweat in a dow2 match unless i come up against a dow1 player.
