Everyone has an opinion on the recoil settings in MoH Tier1.
Just so those of you who do not have the Beta yet can weigh in on the proper amount of recoil any hardcore shooter should have, I thought I would help out and make this quickie vid. It is not by any stretch of the imagination scientific or complete. Just something to use as a yardstick.
Now for those of you out there, mostly the old-timers, who think that anything less than an elephant gun-like kick is the proper amount of recoil for any "real" shooter, I would like to simply and somewhat apologetically say that I disagree.
As I mentioned in the MoH video I made yesterday, I was not put off by the lack of recoil. As you can see by today's video, there does appear to be somewhat less recoil. Maybe a third less than that seen in BFBC2. It is not a scientific comparison. My BFBC2 M16 fired in 3 round bursts, so I opted to use the SMG-like class M4 autofire versus the MoH M16. Nevertheless, most will agree to the fact that there is a bit less recoil...regardless of the exact ratio.
I did not feel that I was wanting on the skill side at all in MoH. In fact, I found that I needed just as much (and maybe more) concentration to fire accurately in Tier1 than I do in other games. Undoubtedly that was due to the tiny targets in MoH.
I can understand that run'n'gun shooters like CoD need an ample amount of recoil in them, else the game will degenerate into a hip-hop festival of tear-assing speed merchants sprinting from one side of the map to the other. MoH is far from a run'n'gun fest. It's an attempt at a thoughtful shooter, where success is a combination of careful aim, good threat assessment, positioning and pre-planning. If you try and run, you will be mowed down. The lack of recoil was probably chosen to prevent too many bunny hopping, road runners.
So personally I will not be complaining about the lack of recoil. However, if you want something to complain about, try the fact that the sensitivity varies from weapon to weapon and (though I cannot prove this quite yet) I am certain that there is some mouse smoothing going on.
The reason for recoil/recoil patterns is so there is a learning curve with each weapon. Hence why "pro" gamers want actual recoil instead of there pretty much being none.
You realise that they compared the m95 to the m24 or sv-98 yeah? BC2 has those specific guns in the game and they reload etc a lot quicker then in moh.
maybe you should quote the whole post so people will hopefully figure out it's not actually you, I haven't tried the game yet, i only hope the server settings and mod tools is there any? will help the game
