I've had BFBC2 working since I bought it on release however last week it wouldn't load at all. I tried restarting and all manner of things but nothing worked, eventually I reinstalled it and it started working again, until today. I've tried everything short of reinstalling again and it still won't work.
When I attempt to launch the game the process appears in Task Manager for a moment then it disappears. I can't find anything on google, everything that shows up is about it being able to launch to the starting videos then crashing, nothing relating to my problem.
Does anyone have any other things to try? I'd much prefer not to have to continually reinstall the damn game.

If you are using the steam version of it, you may want to try Verifying your Local Cache. I mean hey, its possible your files got corrupted somehow during the patching process.

Nah it's a boxed retail copy.
EDIT: It won't even work after a reinstall now either, even after clearing everything relating to BFBC2 off my system...

Nope, MW2 and COD4 both work.

EDIT: Ok I'll tentatively say I've got it working, hopefully it keeps working.
All I did was uninstall the game, restart, clear my registry with CCleaner, restart, install BFBC2 and it worked. Here's hoping it stays that way..

Nope.
EDIT: Well, as I feared it seemed to only temporarily work, it's stopped working again.. Any other ideas?
EDIT2: Well, I have no idea why I didn't figure this out earlier, but it has to do with Xfire detection. It worked when I reinstalled it initially because Xfire hadn't had a chance to redetect it yet, but when I set Xfire to never detect it it works fine now.
