I tryed dual booting linux/xp together, worst mistake of my life.
Xp is the original os
And when I installed ubuntu from cd it autoinstalled grub. Grub updates ur mbr (master boot record) and now I can't boot into xp. I can only boot into ubùntu. My hdd is partitined to
440gb XP - 60gb Ubuntu. (500gb drive)
Since I can only go into ubuntu now...
I went on the ubuntu help forums and asked many times and no one will help me they all suggest things that have made the problem even worse. One person told me to download a program called "GParted" its a program that does partitioning and make sure ur drives are all well and good.. He told me to unmount my drive so I could use the program to check it... I unmounted it and now I can't even view my files anymore from ubuntu... (The windows partition files are still viewable from ubuntu but now I can't view). I can't mount it anymore because it has errors or something and it said my drive is unrecognised...
It started from as soon as I dual booted and when I press xp in the grub it says "Disk read error press ctrl alt del"
And now since I unmounted the drive it says something like
MBR: 12457
Or some number like that...
I reallyt need my pc to work again and I can only work this out using ubuntu -_- and for some reason my pc won't boot from cd so the most obvious option is gone... I can however boot from usb but I'm not sure about how...
Please help
