Hey guys, i was trying to get on cod 4 before, except whenever i tried joining a server i got the 'cd key is in use please try again later' error. I bought this key sometime last year and have never had any problems like this, and before that i'd been playing on my brothers computer with his key since practically when cod 4 came out, and i'd never had any issues either.

So i'm wondering, has someone stolen my CD key? I've tried restarting modem, pc waited awhile now. I do have my brothers cd key which he doesn't use anymore, except my GUID is already linked to cg, so yeah, what are my options right now? Can my GUID on cg change?

dont worry man, happens to me a lot of times after i get DC'd from a server.

it can take some time. Reset your modem and wait for a bit, then see if it works

yeah it's been awhile bro, like 2 hours, i've reset my modem and also restarted my pc,

It happens when you get DC'd from a sever (usually when your internet cuts out or your modem/router has problems), it gets fixed if you close down your game, and then restart your modem/router... if that doesn't work leave it for 10mins... if again that doesn't work... then you got scammed, and i would recommend buying a new CD key.

It has nothing to do with steam that like saying my css account got hacked so I went to EB games to complain about them selling me a bad copy of the game...


I would contact an admin,(if you know one that's even better) explain to them what happened and get them to change it for you

Happens if two people are playing on the same cd key so if I was to borrow my friends cod 4 install it use his cd then I'm playing and he trys to play hhe won't be able to play. So make sure your brother isn't playing =D

I had a retail version and a Steam version. I went to change the retail version's CD key and accidentally changed the Steam key and don't know how to get my original Steam CoD4 key back, steams no help they told me to ask Activision and they just told me to buy a new key. Steam sucks arse. Anyone know how I can get my original key? and bl to op sucks not being able to play cod4. Al tho im allowed to play mw2 >:|
