Quick Summary: Got new PC, installed W7/Drivers/etc., plugged in headset, sound works, mic doesn't. Headset doesn't have drivers, uses 3.5mm jack. Fiddled around with sound drivers and other options. Using Creative Fatal1ty.

is this being plugged straight into the mobo?
try other ports if have any
what software are u using?
try different software
/restart pc

make sure that for recording you have HD audio or whatever, try different ports

Yup, I had to ask him what the hell he was on about.

Tried everything suggested. No idea if the front ports even detected. Just to clarify, they worked perfectly fine on my old PC, so it's most likely software.
