Intel Core i7 930 is now EOL - replaced by Intel Core i7 950.

http://staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=intel+core+i7+930&spos=3 $339 from Online Computer

http://staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=intel+core+i7+950&spos=1 $369 from PCCG

That's nearly 40% off. What does this mean?

The main difference is that the 950 has a 23x multiplier while the 930 was 21x - makes it easier to overclock & the faster stock speeds.

Not much difference if you overclock your 930 to 3.06Ghz

But you have to overclock first :| hehe

I'm sure if you ask someone here nicely from VIC, they might help you @ Respawn

Yeh, although the first Sandy Bridge chips are due out Q1 2011 while Bulldozer isnt expected until Q3 at least. The i5 2500K is looking to be the sweet spot atm.

Cant wait. I was looking at getting an AMD 965 a few weeks ago and then upgrading chip when Bulldozer was released. However after AMD announced Bulldozer will no longer be using the AM3 socket it kinda put a lot of holes in that idea. So Sandy Bridge it is.

real men run there at 3.9ghz.

For some random reason as soon as my blck is over 190 no matter what volts it crashes

so 3.9 @ 1.3v will do..

p.s 2x460's are tank

Might be your RAM or mobo limiting your BLCK

Getting 2 ASUS 1GB GTX460 DirectCU TOP in a few weeks - can't wait to bench them!

would it be worth building a new machine now, or waiting for all this sandy bridge/bulldozer stuff to come.

This is rather cool!

The Lucid Hydra has been around for a while but mainly on MSi boards

www.neoseeker.com/news/13821-asus-crosshair-iv-extreme-to-use-lucid-hydra-chip/

It allows you to use SLI or Crossfire and or either NVIDIA or ati cards simultaniously.
