True,

I think NAS are more a plug and play / work type thing.

With a server you have a lot more options in regards to software etc.

+ some NAS are super super super expensive for what they are.

I never heard of RAID-Z ~ it sounds pretty good. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-standard_RAID_levels#RAID-Z


I know my NAS has a problem with read/writes. I think it's pretty slow at around 35MB/s read & write which kinda sucks.

But I think I will still continue with my purchase, we'll have a chat about our setup's advantages & disadvantages together
