Will Gamestah be covering the finals or will it come down to them getting a shoutcaster wanting to do so?

I've got ioUrbanTerror (the stand-alone exe version independent of q3), but it is a quake 3 mod.

Yea run's off the Q3 engine, but you're able to download the game and play it nowdays without Q3.

I have a few questions, as I've just downloaded this;

* Seems very similar to CS and COD4 - is that accurate? (at the basic fundamental level)
* Can someone with ioQuake play with someone from q3a (I have both so no problems for me, but for others questions have arisen)
* How does this game go as far as spectating/shoutcasting, is it the same as cs/cod4?
* Does it have a warmod or is it run like cs was early on with server settings and manual starts/finish?
* How big is the Aus community out of interest

Hello.

I'll start by saying the australian community for urban terror is quite large, many servers and clans, loads of people play. I would say the gameplay is faster than that of CS and COD4 - there are alot of realistic elements, but the game's motto is 'fun over realism' - as such theres some differences between the games.

I don't know about you're other questions, but hope i've made something clear.

Hello,

The game is similar to CS, but not as much COD4. I'd say its a mix between SOF2 (if you have played this) & CS.
Yes, anyone that is either using q3a or ioQuake will be able to play with each other.
Spectating is the same as in CS, SOF2 etc (can be locked to one team for match mode)
It does have "war mode", but it's called "match mode". For example, both teams /ready, game will reload, 15 seconds to get ready, then it will start the match with the settings set (CTF, TS, Bomb etc)
The latest ladder for this game would be :: http://www.clankp10.com/tdu/results.aspx
Most of the teams that play competativly are in the Teams section,

Also another plus about this game, is that it updates, 4.2 should be coming out in the next few months. Then followed by 4.3

Regards,
Chiller

If you're a fast talker, you'd match the pace of the game. I've listened to a CS 1.6 shoutcast and it isn't as nearly as interesting as the TF2 ones (no offense to the shoutcasters, just the speed of CS 1.6 frustrates me).

In UrT, patience generally gets you killed unless you're clutching, and you've got movement to many different locations. Due to the diversity of the teams, individual skill levels and leadership, some teams may like to push together, others may want to cover the whole map.

If you learn how to circle jump, which is pretty straight-forward (every clan will know how to do this), you can cover areas of the map in seconds, then they'll be stationary somewhere regaining stamina etc. There are many different elements of play/tactics/weapons, which makes the game enjoyable.

Quick question for the Gamestah guys;

TDU :: (http://www.clankp10.com/tdu/) finals should be coming up in the next few weeks (4 weeks). If you wanted to get the feel of shoutcasting UrT maybe this would be a good start to see how it goes?

I support the TDU matches being shoutcasted. That's the most competitive competition in AUS right now as CG hasn't kicked off. Also Shoutcasting for these finals would be pretty good considering it's CTF.

Well I have the baby installed as of just now (finally had some time around uni work!)

Watched the tutorial, sounds like a fun game, looks great for a free game in particular.

What are the best pub servers to hang out on and to you have any higher-end PUG servers around? Is there a GotFrag/CyberGamer esque site with demos and movies in it? Do you have some frag vids around I can watch etc?

I really do like the look of this game, it really is a shame its not much much more popular!
