So a friend of mine is getting a new PC and asked me if I wanted his old one, now I know its a few years old but the PC my dad uses is utter garbage im talking beyond terrible, and I was thinking of either giving him this one or maybe upgrading it, keep in mind this PC wouldnt really be for gaming (although if I could play SC II on there Id be happy) my dad uses the the computer mostly to google random music stuff, watch You tube clips and surf ebay lol

So are these specs any good?
Mother board: Abit NF7,
Video card: Nvidia 6600/7600 AGP
CPU: AMD 2500
Ram: 2 x DDR2 512M,
HD: 120G/160G,

Secretly Id also like to know if these kinda spec are enough for SC II and would it take much upgrading to get there

well I currently play SC II on my laptop its duel core 2 Gigs erm cant remember much more its fine for playing except the graphics card overheats (intel family chipset- a known bug for 3 years that Dell has failed to support the update for ) I just Like the idea of being able to play it on a PC once in a while, its not a major concern for me though as Ill be moving out of home next year.

as for my dads PC I dont remember much (because its that old) but its like a Pentinium 3 or 4 im farily sure its less that 1G ram, HD again fairly sure its like 20G or something crazy low, basically it was a top of the line PC back in 95 and hasnt be upgraded since . so forget about the SC II then lol is this a significant upgrade from the PC he has? are any of those components known for being buggy (i dont wanna insult my mate by asking these sort of questions since he is offering it to me) any cheap upgrades I can give it? i dont mind spending a couple hundred $ and making it a xmas pressie mum/dad always give me decent xmas pressies lol, My cousin is really good with building/fixing PCs (his dad is a techy) so I should be able to do some minor upgrades

also while Ive got you, a decent monitor to go with this? the one he is using is oooold lol

thanks

Nice building up that post count I see....

as I was saying, it isnt for gaming, basically I wanna know will it have decent speed? the most intensive thing will being downloading 3 youtube clips at once while playing solitaire/some other random fb app, when I leave next year I dont want them using some piece of junk that takes 5 minutes to load windows and another 2 minutes to load google etc like they currently using if this is so terrible it isnt even going to be worth lugging on a train for an hour/driving to the city on the weekend and driving back then Ill just buy some half decent PC from JB for $1000 or whatever
