SoundBlaster launches QuakeLive on CyberGamer!

Thanks to SoundBlaster and CyberGamer we are proud to announce the QuakeLive Champions League and Open Ladder. The premier duelling base for Australian QuakeLive! We hope to bring you well run competitions for players and top class coverage for spectators. Our priority is helping you fit easily into this new competition, so we've coded a fully working league and ladder system to handle challenges, map choices, and results. We will be casting a 'Match of the week' each week as well as a 'In the mind of:' cast each week having a pro dueller give some on-the-fly insight into how he plays the game. We'll keep you updated in the forums about these. Thanks to SoundBlaster we have been granted $750 + SoundBlaster Headsets as the Champions League prize purse per season, and for the Open Ladder we have $100 + a SoundBlaster Headset!

Both the Champions League and the Open Ladder are currently taking Sign-ups. They both start on the 15th of November.

Champions League

www.cybergamer.com.au/forums/thread/182022/Champions-League-Launch!/
The Champions League will hold Australias best duellers to let them duke it out to fight for #1! To join the Champions League you must fill out an application. Then a panel of experienced QuakeLive community experts will judge the top 32 to go through. The Champions League will run for 5 weeks.

Open Ladder

www.cybergamer.com.au/pc/ql/ladder
The Open Ladder is a little bit more casual, allowing for players of all skill ranges to join and compete. Please read the sign-up procedures and the rules on the ladder page before signing up. The Open Ladder will run for around 3 months.

Thanks and goodluck!

dm6? DM6? DEE EMM SIX???? If Aerowalk is in the pool and its bo3, why not put Hektik in there, and if the other person doesn't have a pro account its just t7/dm13/ztn? dm6 should be eradicated from everyones mind.

Looks good anyway.

It's a good map to learn on. Because then it's unfair on the person that has an upgraded account (they lose their elim). And also please note the Champions League has Hektik instead of dm6.

no reason to have two different map pools.

no reason to have two different map pools.

I'll rewrite what I wrote above incase it wasn't clear enough.

Reasons for including dm6 over hektik:
1. Because players with free accounts are going to be participating in this competition you cannot have premium maps. We made a compromise and made it so one premium map is involved (aero). But if you have a free account you automatically surrender your elimination to that map. If there were to be two premium maps the non-free player would effectively lose their elimination and would be forced to play on ztn t7 and dm13.

2. DM6 is a great map to learn QL through. It has easy flow and teaches the basics of duel, item control and positioning.

dm6 is probably the best map to learn how to duel on.
