The single player has pretty much conformed to the same call of duty archetype that has been used since the original game albeit much faster paced with quicker intervals. Personally get pretty bored of the 'on-rails' style as it tends to feel more like an interactive movie then a true game experience. Having said that, the sound I thought was amazing, the animation and the voice work for the characters was excellent and for the most part the texturing and visuals were decent (although I found you'd occasionally get really ugly looking textures popping up here and there, particularly on the character models which for the most part look gorgeous)
Story was a bit all-over-the-place but the variety of having different time zones and weapons from the different 'missions' kind of made it worth the fragmented narrative. While it's unlikely to ever happen, I wish they'd try their hand at having a more sand boxed single player in the future. The whole "interact with the glowing yellow objective" has been done to death.
Multi-player is a disgrace. Honestly, while I'm not dumb enough to not appreciate the nature of server loads and the stress the initial release causes, the lag issues in this game are another example in an ever increasing long line of launch failures.
I'd expect this kind of rubbish from someone like EA/Dice (BFBC2) but seriously, now Call of Duty too? Funny how I don't remember EVER having this issue with any of the original games or games in general back in the day. The browser is terrible as well. Anyone else remember the days of COGS, All Seeing Eye etc and how easy it was to find and join servers? If they are so intent on making us log into master servers etc to play, how about spending 5 minutes creating a feature rich browser that works?
All that aside, the game (when it's smooth) is pretty fun and the guns/rego all feel pretty solid. I'm not so sure about the map design although they at least don't feel too cluster****ed and aren't full of exploding cars (exploding barrels need to go though) So yeah, while it will probably be a decent game and they will fix the issues, it still feels like a massive slap in the face having to put up with this crap from a franchise that clearly has enough money behind it to do better.
