steam/xfire groups will just create community splits and allround bad communication.
Its time to centralize the community into one major chat channel.

Heres the tutorial for regular IRC also.
IRC Tutorial:
There are many different clients that you can use but for this tutorial I will use mIRC as it is a very basic client.
Step 1: download mIRC
http://www.mirc.com/get.html
Step 2: Now that you've downloaded mIRC run the executable and follow the installation steps, after installing start up mIRC and I will take you show you how to set it up.
The first thing you will see when you start up mIRC mIRC Options page, as shown.
Fill in the full name, using anything you want. You can use your real name, your forum name or whatever.
Below that is your email address, I strongly suggest that you do not enter your email address in here. You need to enter something and it needs to be in the format of an email address, what you use I'll leave up to you.
Step 3: Once you've done that go to "Servers" just to the left and find "gamesurge, random server" as shown.
Step 4: When you've done that press "Ok" and connect by clicking on the lightening symbol which is located underneath the "file" menu.
Once your connected click the heart symbol and type in #cybergamer and #mw2scrims
Step 5: Registering to "gamesurge"
http://www.gamesurge.net/createaccount/ is pretty straight forward and once you've done that enter the following command into the chat box and hit enter: /as login username password or /AuthServ auth account password.
Step 6: Go to options > perform and click on add, then scroll the drop down menu until you find "gamesurge", enter the command you entered in step 5, click on "enable on connect" and then hit "Ok.
This will automatically perform the auth command every time you connect to the server.
Step 7 (Optional): You can also add the command //mode $me +x in the perform section, this will hide your IP address from other users on IRC and if you choose to do this I recommend setting it for "All Networks".
So it's that simple, oh and as an example i have listed my join list.
Under options/perform I have the following set
/authserv auth Nutshot (password)
//mode $me +x
/join #cybergamer
/join #codau
/join #ausblackops
