Most people online are having trouble setting up there car's for drifting.
I started this thread basicly so people can share idea's and help others with drifting and tuning cars etc.
At this present time i have been sticking with the Nissan Sileighty '98 with just a basic setup.
For those interested in getting there car ready to slide, its pretty basic.
First off i tuned the engine to about 290-310bhp.
Body/Chassis - Stage 1,2 and 3 weight reduction. Dont have to go all the way to stage 3 unless your drift car is 1200 kg+. Also added Rigidity Improvement.
Transmission - My car is the Sileighty 5speed so i just got 5speed close ratio transmisson. dont have to go crazy and get best of everything just to drift, thats just silly.
Suspension kits - Fully Customisable Kit. ( talk about tuning suspenssion further down. )
Tyres - If your having trouble controling your car you can go for Sport Softs. if you want some real action go Comforts hard/soft.
Tuning suspension is hard for most people.. like myself at times
Im not very good at explaining things so ill just quickly put down my setup below.
Ride Height - Front -25 Read -25
Spring Rate - Front 10.0 Rear 13.0
Dampers - Front 5 Rear 7
Dampers (compression) Front 6 Rear 7
Anti-Roll Bars - Front 5 Rear 6.
Wheel alignment - Camber Front 0.3 Rear 0.0
Toe Angle Front 0.00 Rear 0.05
Now i dont know alot about tuning suspension so guys who know there shit please comment! cheers.
This is just to get people started. i helped out a few people online doing this so i thought i'd make a proper thread.
guys dont forget to Post YOUR DRIFT SETUP! and show everyone how you tuned your car and also if your using controller or wheel. Im using a Logitech G27 atm.
how do you find the wheel? I've been struggling a little with the controller and thinking of getting one!
I'll need to spend a little more time on GT5 and get a drift car build up, I did create a track which was pretty fun to drift around with the arcade cars.
Completely agree on the tyres, they make such a huge difference.

hey dude, i got my g27 from a local PC store www.ple.com.au not too sure if they post aus wide, worth checking out though. Also JB Hi Fi sell them and harvey Norman, but there prices are too high.
Mate
fully modified RX7 spec R type A or 300zx with stockies
just try and keep it in a straight, biggest longest slide with no effort.
yo!
haha i wish it was that easy with my s13! but i dont tune my cars for high speed drifting.
I dont like having so much HP on such light cars and a fully modified rx7 drifting hairpin's and sharp corners would be hard, especially trying to reach the clipping point and keeping smooth
i use the sprinter from initial d cartoon which u can purchase in used dealerships every now and then, best drifitng car in the game so far for me, and ive done up the s2000 and the latest rx7 for drifiting
hey guys, just thought I'd throw this tune on here
"RX7 Spirit R Type A (FD) 02
Brief Description:
Fun and addictive to drift around any course your willing to find the "line" on. G27 or Controller can be used . I have been asked to join teams, gotten compliments online, asked to share settings etc. If you need a controllable drifter then don't expect this car to be it straight away (for most). It is however capable of close precision drifting (easy tandem after practice)
WARNING: Car is loose and may seem like it is uncontrollable at first ( even in a straight line if your new to this). Technique is to brake evenly to move weight to the front, then push back out (handbrake or clutch) on entry and feather/countersteer it,
Upgrades:
Everything in tune shop maxxed out except turbo (get stage 2 turbo)
Aero parts & oil change in GT Auto
Tyres comfort hard (but it can drift with up to SH tyres too)
