Well, I bought WoW today and downloading the patches. Currently downloading the first 4.7GB patch but just about all day it has been downloading slower then a fat woman on a treadmill. I'm pretty pissed off, it is staying at around 10kb/s I don't have amazing internet but it's better then 10kb/s I have port forwarded the ports that Blizzard say to do and still nothing, the only thing using bandwidth in my house is the downloader. In 5 hours it has downloaded 600MB.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can speed it up or any ideas of why it is going so slow? Any suggestions would be great. Cheers.

WoW patches work on peer-to-peer. Most players have it by now, so if I was you I would wait until tuesday next week and grab cataclysm for yourself or from a mate and install it, way quicker. After the 4.7gb patch there is another ~2GB. So disc = win.

So once I have Cata and install the expansion I won't need to DL any patches until the new Cataclysm patches come out?

yea i don't think you would, if you still do only other way to speed it up is disable your firewall but getting the xpansion should do it and it would be soo much quicker, and plus as it would be much quicker because more people would be downloading them

Wait, are you saying if you buy cataclysm, you dont need to spend all that time patching?

Does this work with game clients themself? I'm currently downloading all 3 expansion packs from the site, do I only need to download cataclysm ( / lich king) ? lol :S

If you have the installs for all of the other games (digital or disc) you can install the up-to-date game when you either download the Cata digital download or get the Cata disc. Otherwise its wasted time patching right now.

as far as i know the cata client is already apart of the content patches, so you wont need to download anything on release

get it off another site rather from bliz downloader, just google the patch number and there will be websites that are hosting it for faster speeds.

Can I download the original games itself faster? I've been digitally downloaded the original WoW since like 12, and it's hardly 50% :/

Been alot of big patches lately. Download works via p2p. Lots of congestion on the p2p network = slow downloads.

Patches/updates most tuesday nights. Cata content has already been brought into the game so there isnt going to be a huge download when it is released. There will be a pacth on cata release but it might be a couple 100mb instead of 4gb
