Afternoon,

360 noob here with a PC question for y'all.

A few mates and I have been playing a bit of minecraft online (we set up a server on one of our media centres), but have become frustrated by the bandwidth/lag/uptime issues that come with it. The decision's been made to grab a proper server for the game (only 6-8 slots, money not a problem). Unfortunately, most game hosting place places I've called don't support Minecraft.

So, my question is:
- Is there anywhere that hosts Minecraft online (preferably Aussie servers)?
- If not, what's the best way to set up one ourselves online? We own a domain name, can use Linux at the command level, but don't know how to rent a server and link it to the internet, and then run MC through it.

Ta!

Thanks for that mate - we've already set up a few servers like that, and it's been heaps of fun!

My question is really more asking about renting/acquiring server hardware online (that's up 24/7 with decent bandwidth, as our media servers/macs/pcs don't cut it). What's the best way to go for that?

Try games.on.net as they have a server, dunno if they'd b able to provide you with one for a cost as I don't think they rent them out(as far as I know). Try speaking to sum1 from there and see if you get anywhere.

Have posted up the same question, but I don't think they rent out servers in the same way some smaller companies do. Thanks for the info though.
