I think WoW is far more renowned for being considered 'nerdy' is because of the media it gets and you see articles and reports like the one above about people addicted to it. I think becasue WoW is all about working on your own character that it would be more addictive to CoD aswell. i think the fact that it is like its own world means its players can more easuily become lost in it.

but i think your right. someone who plays WoW for 6 hours a day is no geekier than someone who spends the sam time on CoD. its just a stereotype.

About half my real life friends play WoW, although I met them all through work or various social activities and not through the game. Most of the people I group with in the game are either real life friends or friends of those friends. We also see each other in person frequently and have more to talk about than just WoW. I think it's mostly the media that make it out to be an additive game just for people with no social skills or outside interests.

Media say that WoW players have no life and yet they are just looking to blame something for troubled youth groups these days
