Both the Core i7 2600K and Core i5 2500K processors were considerably faster than the Core i7 975 Extreme Edition and Phenom II X6 1100T processors -- at a fraction of the price.

Pretty much all thats needed for me

I hear their ditching 32-bit BIOS in favour of UEFI.

I really want the new product AMD will release sometime this year, It's called an APU (Acceleration Processing Unit), From what i've read on the AMD Site, it has an intergrated graphics card into a quad core cpu....... instant win?

The Sandy Bridge chips also have an integrated GPU. The AMD chips wont be anything special GPU wise. They will probably come with an integrated GPU capable of 1080p playback etc.. they definitely will not be for high end gaming.

i laugh at how a $300 processor is quicker (at majority of the tests) then a processor that is priced at $1100+

but will be checking these out for next upgrade.

The i7 2600K is better than the i7 980X or i7 975?

better than the 975 (975 beats it in one or two tests) and very close if not above the 980. major difference is 2600k is 4 core 980 is 6 core. and at the moment gaming cannot take advantage of the six cores so the 2600k would be the option to go for. unless you are doing some like rendering of some kind (cad) you may be able to warrant it but still comparing the prices.. its $1100 difference between the 2600k's $300 price tag and the 980's price of $1400.
