The team at Treyarch have announced some changes coming up in Title Update 1.06, which has yet to be given a release date. There are some gameplay changes that we think a lot of our readers are going to be excited about. Mainly the tuning of the AK74-U and Second Chance.
AK74-U
The Complaints: The primary concern with this Submachine Gun, is that when you attach the Grip to the AK74-U, it is too powerful and accurate. The complaint is that this makes the rest of the submachine guns irrelevant and makes the AK74-U overpowered and overused.
The Solution: Treyarch has been listening to the complaints of the community and has altered the recoil on the AK74-U when a Grip is attached. This will make the weapon more balanced in their eyes, as the damage will be more suitably countered by recoil, making it harder to be accurate with the weapon at longer distances.
Second Chance
The Complaints: The majority of the anti-Second Chance community says that the perk is cheap, the scoring system unfair and that there are bugs which leave the player at a major disadvantage when their target uses Second Chance. On the 'cheap' side of the argument, players say that you shouldn't have to kill an enemy twice. Often times, a player will kill the target, only to have them fall into Second Chance while the player is reloading or targeting another enemy. They end up being killed by the person in Second Chance, making many players frustrated. Another primary concern is that, when playing Team-based matches, when you drop someone into Second Chance, a Teammate comes along and finishes him off, stealing your kill and points. Other small concerns are bugs where the player falling into Second Chance is invulnerable for a second or falls with their Primary weapon out, making them more powerful than intended.
The Solutions: Treyarch is considering altering the Scoring system to Second Chance kills so that the player who drops the target into Second Chance gets the kill, and the player who finishes them off will get an assist. They are also considering increasing the time spent in Second Chance Pro while awaiting a team mate to revive you. As for the bugs allowing players to drop into Second Chance with their Primary, Treyarch is avidly researching this to find a way to reproduce this so that they can fix it.
Treyarch is also considering minor changes to the RC-XD killstreak reward, namely altering the movement speed, the minimum/maximum damage and the damage radius. Check out the full post by David Vonderhaar, Treyarchs Multiplayer Director, below.
I had hoped by this time in the game life-cycle we would be engaged in a series of constructive debates about the game tuning. Tweaking a few things one way or the other.
These are some of the key things on our minds. The ones in bold are done already as of Jan 5th.
We think the AK74U grip variant re-center speed is too quick. Although the tuning in line with other grip variant weapons, the gun itself has a very perfectible kick and other attributes or attachments that make it a popular weapon to use. We have slightly de-tuned the AK74u grip for version 1.06.
We are considering giving full kill credit to the guy who drops someone in Second Chance and Assist credit for someone who finishes them off. We are also considering allowing you to only be revived one time. We are even considering increasing the revive time.
Forum users like to complain about the "invulnerability period" when someone is dropping. I went through the script over and over again. At least in script, nothing like this exists. Forum user also complain about someone can knife or use a primary when dropping. We are investigating.
We are evaluating the RC-XD minimum and maximum damage and damage radius and it's movement speed. Changing the kill requirement isn't feasible at this time.
We are largely okay with the sniper rifle and knife tuning at this time. No changes are currently planned for either of these for version 1.06.
