A very long time has passed since the words of Call of Duty have passed my lips during a shoutcast but on Sunday the 23rd of January the timer will be reset. The Kingston HyperX Cup kicks off at 2pm GMT+10 (04:00 CET) with teams like Sequential Gaming, Team Immunity and Archaic eSports appearing on this video stream.
To watch this high quality video stream simply head to
www.wanstop.net and hit the live stream tab and join in for what is the FIRST PC Call of Duty BlackOps Competition for Australia, hosted by the home of Call of Duty, CyberGamer.
Of course knowing your opponents is just as important for the spectators as well as the players so I have asked a couple of the teams competing in the Kingston HyperX Cup a few questions to help satisfy the curiosity of the COD Community (with more to come).
Thank you to the following Players and Teams for answering the questions:
Josh – Sequential Gaming
Obez – Team Immunity
Motion – Archaic MSI
Bully – Fatality
Scanx – Total Qontrol
Samson – Team eXile5
Mors - Zenith
Kingston HyperX Cup Captains Questions:
Please tell us a little about yourself and your Clan
Josh - SQL: "emates doing big things" care of dutchpride
Obez – iM: My name is obez and the first CoD I started playing was CoD2, I started competitive CoD a little after Fzero left due to having a bad PC but got right into competition as soon as I could. Progressed through CoD2 quite well and moved to CoD4 where we were picked up by Team Immunity. We successfully won the first 3 seasons of Cybergamer Invite and progressed undefeated until we retired from competition for a while. Upon return our roster changed slightly with Jor and Teek being replaced with Showie, Nick and Mo and now here we are in Black Ops waiting for mod tools to be released
Motion – ArcMSI: I'm Nathan, I frag under the alias motion, I've been gaming since I was around 12 and started playing Call of Duty competitively with the release of Call of Duty 1. I play for ArchaicMSI Esports, and am a new addition to the team. My team is comprised of Sensuki, Millah, firewizard and the recent addition of extacy(clan killer)
Bully – Fatality: Hello my name is Todd'Bully'Bray i started playing call of duty, When call of duty 2 came out I didn't get into the Cybergamer part till end of CoD2 when my rl mate epidemic ran over to my house and told me to play.
And over the few years i have played in some bad teams and some good teams. I had a bad name at one point when i was a kid but now i have tried to grow up and play and become friends with people in the cg community.
i'v play'ed in a few cgi season's now cod2 season 2 and 3, W@W season 1 (also cevo-p s1), 1st - FFYI Cod2 Invite League. fatality7 are a cgi team they have played many game's as a team and had some every very good players in the team
you can always hope when you see fatality7 in a CoD game you will see them all way's try as a team and as a competitive team, people that have played for f7 have seen that you have a lot of fun when you do play for them, and we hope to keep it that way
for year's to come.
Scanx – Total Qontrol: well im Scanx and i play for the team Total Qontrol. I also head the organisation alongside Frenzy. We started up roughly a year ago now, playing Cod4 and have now decided to move on to what will hopefully be better things with black ops.
Samson – eXile5:Team eXile5 is a multi-gaming organisation that started in BF2 and now has divisions for CoD, CS 1.6, CSS, URT and BFBC2. The current CoD division joined Team eXile5 in July 2010; I'm one of just two people from that team that is still a part of the core line-up (bradalz being the other person). About 2 months ago we decided to start cleaning up the team and dropped a few players and picked up fbl from eXile5's Urban Terror division, who is now co-captain alongside myself, and also the in-game caller for the team. Most recently, we picked up keeN (genx) and feraL from Xlayer Legion to complete our line-up, and couldn't be happier right now.
Mors - Zenith:I am Josh "Mors" Delgorge the Captian of the Zenith Black ops team, Our team was originally known as Void and were picked up by zenith alongside the css team to represent Zenith organisation. We as a team are looking forward to the black ops comp besides the hiccups to the game
How is your team preparing for the Kingston HyperX Cup?
Josh - SQL: Just trying to get ourselves across the maps... Too often it is a lot like "he is in the corner", "which corner", "that corner", "dead".....
Obez – iM: We were scrimming every so often before Christmas and have had a pretty long break during the holiday season. Originally we thought it was cancelled so we eased off, however since its going ahead we have started to scrim more often.
Motion – ArcMSI: We've been trying to scrim as much as possible, but the holiday period and not having a 5th until recently has meant we've struggled to scrim as much as we'd have liked to. Once sensuki gets back from his holidays we'll be looking to get stuck into the 'strat' side of BlackOps(which means we'll be stealing peoples nades and smokes). We'll probably keen up closer to the date of the Kingston HyperX Cup!
Bully – Fatality: well atm we are just getting our stuff together figuring out what other team's are doing and learing from it.(witch i think most team will be doing). And hopping we get to a good enough level for when the Kingston HyperX cup comes around.
Scanx – Total Qontrol: We been preparing by doing the basics, scrimming and stratting. Pretty well every night we have 5 members on, which means that most nights we can have a few scrims, building more chemistry amongst us, hopefully preparing us for the competition that lies ahead.
Samson – eXile5:Since completing our line-up, we've been trying to fit in as many practice scrims and sessions as we can. Apart from that, just hanging out and getting to know the newer players in the team to build chemistry etc. Exciting stuff, right?
Mors - Zenith:We have only recently started scrimming in black ops and getting a feel for the game as the team is still very much interested in cod4, just scrimming teams and learning strats.
Considering there have been no 'Official' competitive matches for Black Ops in Australia, what are you expecting the play style of the teams to be?
Josh - SQL: Well BO lends itself to a slow positional style of play and at the moment most teams have a general mix of Cod4 and Cod5WaW styles
Obez – iM: The play styles will definitely vary a lot between different teams so its hard to say. You can usually gather how a team will play from scrimming them often. Black Ops seems to be a lot faster paced than CoD4 so I think most teams will have fairly fast paced playing styles
Motion – ArcMSI: I think it's likely that we'll see a very aggressive style of play, similar to the way Australians played Call of Duty 4. Most of the top teams favour this agro style of play and I can't see that changing with Black Ops. Nerd nades will unfortunately also be a trait of Australian Black Ops.
Bully – Fatality: Well with who we have been playing (iM, Fray(SQL), NS, arC. QMX,ect) we can see it will be alot of rush gaming going on, Because Of some of the maps (eg: villa) were u can rush as a team any were and if done properly as a team you can dominate.
Scanx – Total Qontrol: I think that the style will be fairly similar to how the teams have played their previous games, for example COD4 players will rely on their strats, wether that be nades, wallbangs or just general positioning, whereas people from other games such as MW2 may try and hold back, sitting in specific spots relying on surprise tactics. However once the game has set in and everyone is familiar with each other's playing styles, we will see who has what it takes to make up something completely new and overwhelm the community.
Samson – eXile5: So far, most teams seem to be really teamwork orientated, relying on their chemistry and individual skill to win rounds, but there are a few exceptions such as Vincitori who are renowned for playing a much slower game. Either way, we haven't come across anything too different just yet.
Mors - Zenith:I don’t no really what to expect, I was going to believe it would be faster paced with huge fire rates on assault rifles but as seeing the aug/famas baned we are pleased, alongside flashes
If you could have one word to describe the Famas what would it be?
Josh - SQL: Fire-rate
Obez – iM: LoL
Motion – ArcMSI: Broken
Bully – Fatality: Ok this is a hard one people have their own thoughts on this mine is, I dislike them why because some of the crap people can pull of with them.(eg: trying to kill someone using one that you have shot first with an ak then somehow they kill you

) but if it could be one per team i guess it will be ok because i don't really want another cod4.....
Scanx – Total Qontrol: Overpowered
Samson – eXile5: Overrated.
Mors - Zenith: ridonkulus
What teams do you think will be your biggest challenge?
Josh - SQL:The usual..iM and Arc due to the quality of players in the teams. But as the game is new there may be a few suprise teams lurking about.
Obez – iM: The top teams I see as a challenge will be SQL and Archaic. They have both proven to be competitive teams in CoD4 and I think they will continue to do the same in Black Ops. There are some other teams like X5 that are putting a lot of time into the game so they may have some surprises, but only time will tell.
Motion – ArcMSI: Definitely Team Immunity and SEQUENTIAL Gaming.
Bully – Fatality: well I really do think iM, and vincitori.(Spachala's team) because of some of the crap I have been seeing, and I have also herd good things about x5 new team now that they have kicked a few people so will be awesome to see how this turns out.
Scanx – Total Qontrol: All of the better known teams are obviously on everyone's mind, such as Immunity, Archaic and SQL, however there are new teams popping up everywhere that posses high levels of skill, and at any moment could take the community by storm. A team to watch out for i think would be spachala's new team Vincitori, we play them quite regularly and they are looking like a strong team at the moment.
Samson – eXile5:Our biggest competition (in no particular order) would be Archaic, Sequential, Immunity and Vincitori.
Mors - Zenith: The only teams trying arc, sql,iM
Who would you class as your star player(s)?
Josh - SQL: . i would say prawneh but he might get crushed under the weight of his own ego, would say dutchpride but he wouldn't stop talking about it and claiming to be the "golden child", would say stace but that would provide hours of loud noises, would say myself but i would get ripped into for days, let's say kenji as being a New Zealander, you need a win every now and then..
Obez – iM: We each have our moments and our strengths. If i was to name one I would vote Beast. Not only does he have a lot of previous experience but his general attitude, play style and ability to keep the team in a positive mood is amazing.
Motion – ArcMSI: firewizard, he actually cheats
Bully – Fatality: well i got 2 people Bani and panda put them together and u get a massive play, and lol's from panda.
Scanx – Total Qontrol: I think that Nozzle has been playing really well lately, showing us that he does have what it takes to step up and play at the level we are looking for. However in saying this, all of our players have been playing well and are looking to place highly in upcoming events.
Samson – eXile5:I wouldn't call anyone on the team a 'star player'. Everyone in our core line-up is very even in skill level and always pulls their weight in scrims.
Mors - Zenith: 1 player, tratty
What will be your final line-up for the Kingston HyperX Cup?
Josh - SQL: JOSH, Dutchpride, Prawneh, Stace, Kenji with MJ and Spreik as reserves
Obez – iM: obez, juzz, showie, nick and beast
Motion – ArcMSI: Sensuki, Millah, firewizard, extacy(clan killer) and myself
Bully – Fatality: alban ' Bani, Todd 'bully, Phill ' Pandawatch
and well last two you will just have to wait and see on the day guy's
Scanx – Total Qontrol: We are still deciding on our final 5, however our lineup currently consists of:
Baden "Frenzy" Fallon, Josh "Scanx" Ryan, Alex "Firestrike" Coates, Brodie "Nozzle" Deegan, Daniel "Virtue" Shirley, Matt "muso" Musolino and, Jack "Lantern" Peterson
Samson – eXile5: Samson, fbl, bradalz, keeN, feraL.
Mors - Zenith: Cuzzy~Hektik~Myself~Rampage~Trolik
Anyone you would like to shoutout to?
Josh - SQL:Quick shoutout to our new sponsors Thermaltake Esports
Obez – iM: Shoutout to our sponsors Intel, Geil, Gigabyte, BenQ, Steelseries,
Motion – ArcMSI: I'd like to shoutout to Archaic's sponsors, MSI Australia & Sound Blaster! Also to my gameplex brothers and team.dot!
Bully – Fatality: well just all the people that have help'd use out, and can't wait to get this running. And have a lot of fun with this game guy's can't wait to play you all. Thanks Todd
Scanx – Total Qontrol: Shoutout to sensuki, apparently our auto proning makes him mad.
Samson – eXile5: Big thanks to the entire eXile5 management team for doing such an awesome job. Also, shoutout to Western Digital for their continued support of our team and the entire organisation.

Mors - Zenith: Treyarch for making the mod tools so quickly
Who is your Shoutcaster?
For those of you who remember me from Call of Duty Vanilla, UO and COD 4 days this will be a bit of a refresher for you, but this is mainly for the people who are wondering who I am, so welcome to the quick summary of 'Tobi Wan'.
We will ignore the whole story of my childhood and jump straight to where shoutcasting life began in Call of Duty United Offensive, back when I played for clans like ADF, Team Alias, X Clan (not the hacking one), and ran my own clan of Coup de grace, not to mention running the V COD and UO ladders on Game Arena. But of course what got me into shoutcasting was actually one of the more entertaining shout casters of Australia 'Da-Man' who came up with the idea to help the game we love so much get more attention, to shoutcast it ourselves and the rest as you say is history. Shoutcasting with Gamestah for the majority of my shoutcasting life and now working to help other international shout casters like myself promote eSport on a worldwide front, while providing coverage through the 'currently under construction' CyberGamer TV.
I Have been lucky enough to travel the world commentating mainly DOTA and HoN, attending:
WCG Asian Championships 2007, 2008
WCG New Zealand 2008
WCG Australia 2008
Cyber Fusion LAN (Malaysia 2009)
SMM Grand National (Malaysia) 2009, 2010
DreamHack Summer (Sweeden) 2010
Epic Convention (Singapore) 2010
Digital Youth Awards (China) 2010
And of course all the fun times at LAN Smash in Brisbane.
The online coverage list is way too long to write, so hopefully this will satisfy you for now, and the rest of the satisfaction can be achieved during the Kingston HyperX Cup shoutcasts. I look forward to you joining me.
