Hey guys I have a great idea for my next video, about the return of L4D1. I have a great song choice and theme, I just need some footage from you guys, as it would only work as a community video, so if you have any footage from the latest scrims you've been in, and want to be a star, send the demo and a bit of description about when the moment occurs to trebor_thewise@hotmail.com.

For those of you that don't know how to record just open your console ingame and type "record 'whatever name you want here'" and it will record to that name. To play it, type, "playdemo 'the name you just used'" and it will play back. For DVD like controls, type in "demoui" and a little console will pop up, you can fast forward or go to a certain tick that way.

I'll be on holidays for a few days but expect this video to be pumped out mid next week sometime, becuase when I'm onto a good thing I don't stop yo.
It will prob only for a minute and a half so spots are limited!!! xD

How do you record a demo file to avi? I want to start putting some clips together.

Most people find what they want then use an external program to record. That's one way of getting it to AVI. From there you use w/e program you want to edit all the clips you have got. Quite a lengthy process, and then even longer to work out the right movie cfg you want for each particular game.

Most people will only ever want demo's so they can do all the editing themselves. E.G They may want to fade slowly into the clips, needing a little more of the first clip, where you may have just cut it off at the end of the frag or w/e.

Use fraps Hyu, bit of a learning curve involved using that program but it is the best one out and I'm sure numerous people will be able to give you a hand.

I can get you a free copy if you want.

Yeah I was thinking of just using fraps but dunno how it'd run on my laptop. Might just copy over the version of L4D I have on there and run it in offline mode or something. I'll check it out tonight.

What are you trying to do pengu? Record while you're playing? If so, you're a doofus, just use console record, play it back, THEN record using the other program. But seriously, if anyone wants to make a half decent vid, give them the demo and the time of plays and let them do it.
Oh and the reason it was jittery is probably becos the default FPS record is set to 30 or something. So when you record it drops everything down to that. And yeah, just cap your FPS to w/e is stable. EG you hold 200, cap it and 200 or 175
