Even still

Team A makes it 5% of the map in L4D1, they score 5 points.
Team A makes it 5% of the map in L4D2 they score 20 points (assuming map 1)

Team B makes it 99% of the map in L4D1, they get 99 Points
Team B makes it 99% of the map in L4D2 they get 396 Points (assuming map 1)

Fractionally, it is the same, as 5/100=20/400, and 99/100=396/400.

Overall it's not. Because you don't get a full L4D1 calculated health bonus ON TOP OF the distance bonus.

Edit: I know you didn't like L4D2 but did you even look at your screen during the games of L4D2 you casted/played in?

You 2 are just confusing yourselves...

They are exactly the same UNTIL you get in the saferoom.... If both teams wipe at the exact same spot they will receive the same amount of points.

The reason I say no2 is better is because it is only adds bonus' to the survivors, nothing to do with the map. Some may say NO2 distance scoring is a bit more precise due to the amount of points it gives per % made. So instead of accumulating by single digits over like 50m, it accumlates every 10m. I'm not sure on the merit of that statement though. Does that make sense?

Your first point was established a while ago(so long as distance made is identical), Tratty. Also it has nothing to do with how many metres each team made, it has to do with the points awarded for said metres.

Distance in % = points, no multipliers, no health bonus. Seems the fairest way to go and what your kinda aiming for.

It is the fairest, retched. The fairest we've got, anyway. The scoring system in L4D1&2 could be argued over for centuries and still nothing would be resolved. Confogl is the closest to a fox news scoring system.

I swear, if this l4d2 system gets put in, and we win due to lasting 30 seconds on a finale, I'm gonna laugh in all of your faces and you will feel bad which is completely true, which the stars will be align and all will be perfect in the universe due to your badness being so bad that it controls all forces and make everything that was good turn to bad in the land of badness in badcountry and badtown on bad st.

Honestly, when was the last time you saw the L4D2 Confogl scoring system, Hauks?

I hate this game more than anyone in this community, I dare you to find someone more outspoken on how much you hate this game, but I give credit where it's due and the confogl scoring system is by far the best scoring system ever used in L4D; Period.

End of story, kaput, that's that.

So what's the actual chances of it being implemented into roto? Is it up for discussion within the admins? Or is it more a case of 'would be good but going to happen'. Would be interested to see the views of others on the subject. Especially Phil and S, considering they are the 2 creators.

Confogl is the best version of scoring in L4D/L4D2. That being said - remove the map difficulty multiplier in l4d1 and solve all your l4d problems

I had no qualms with the current L4D2 Confogl Scoring system, (tho maybe the health bonuses should be lowered a tad for new teams coming thru so they dont get 6k bombed and turned off comp. L4D, just putting it out there...idk...)
...
...but it kind of BUMS me in roto that, because it is commonly neck-and-neck with a 100 points difference or so, all the way through, one screw up with a misused tank can result in a gg.
I've seen people make mistakes in roto pugs on map 1 and the ggs come out already.
This, in my view, is wrong.

I rest my case, your honour.

There is a for and against for the L4D1 scoring.

L4D1 scoring places more emphasis on "clutch" moments, tanks, witches, quad attempts, high damage separation areas. And that's fine, you could argue that a team that performs better under pressure will come out on top usually. Where as L4D2 puts more emphasis on the overall strategy. And that's not a bad way either. It just depends on what your team is good at.

The downfall of the L4D1 system is the finales, at the finale as long as you make the radio it is 100 (or 200 with map multi) but regardless if you kill 1, 2 or no tanks, you get no bonus. I think a L4D2 system would only be noticeably superior in the finale section.

EDIT: I don't like the L4D2 system because if both teams are neck and neck the team going second can wipe near the same area but knowing this, one team member can just rushrushrush and get more points. Best exploited when the other team's spawns are down and you find a pipe or molly, you can score a lot of extra points that way.

I like the system for the finale though because you can't rush and force the game to proceed any faster than it is already going. So a mixture of both, L4D1 for maps, L4D2 for finale would be ideal.

sounds to me like huaks and zombie haven't actually played a game of l4d2 after the hb thing was put into confogl and they're just going off of the vanilla l4d2 scoring which is balls cus there's no differance between making it and almost making it

imo confogl got the hb right considering incaps an shit but if you remove map multipliers i don't think you need to change the l4d1 scoring anyway
