Well, as most of you know the new Crytek game 'Crysis 2' was released yesterday (1st March), which means It's time for another game to impact the internet. Maybe not as much with Crysis compared to the Call of Duty series because it's a bit less known, but it will definitely be popular, while it lasts...
Compared to Crysis 1, where you needed a decent gaming computer to run the game at it's best, which means I could never play it; Crysis 2 is different from what I can tell. It's only the demo version of the game, and as you're all noted the demo isn't that always the game once finished, things may improve & change etc. My opinion on the Crysis 2 demo being the finished copy of the game makes me feel sick inside. Reasons being the extremely limited options you have to customize things.
The three graphical modes you can enable are:
1. Gamer (Apparently that's low/ normal?)
2. Advanced (High, I don't know why they wouldn't just call it that...)
3. Hardcore (Not all hardcore gamers have PCs with the capability to run these settings, or the opposite even...)
I, my self am personally dissapointed with the slackness they put into this... I mean, why call it Gamer - Advanced & Hardcore, that's stupid & makes little to no sense... They have no excuse; what happened to the old fashion "Low - Medium - Normal - High - Extra", there's nothing wrong with that...
Another thing that didn't make sense to me (It's not necessarily bad); is the option to enable & disable your multilayer cross hair. Why would they add this feature which pretty much came out of nowhere & not add more features to the graphics options?
Though there are some features Call of Duty promod players will be interested in using, which is a drag-able meter in your options called 'Hud Bobbing', it's the same thing that Internode has that promod doesn't. You can wind this up & down to suit your likings.
To finish it off the games at the moment are 6v6, which doesn't work out at all for a map called 'Pier 17', a lot of users are discussing it being converted to at-least an 8v8 - 10v10 etc.
Enough about the negative, other then a few things causing 'Hardcore' gamers headaches, there is a LOT offered in my opinion, for a demo. Which makes no necessarily me but will make a lot of people be excited to buy the full game when it's released.
The graphics are stunning! The sun glares are a little over the top in my opinion, but it's probably what people expect after the stunning Crysis 1.
The game runs rather smoothly, it includes motion blur which I say will cause people motion-sickness, but hopefully once the full game is released the graphical options would have updated.
The maps are extremely detailed & beautiful for that matter, it makes you feel like you are playing in 2023.
Overall the graphics are extremely impressing even on 'Low/Normal - Gamer'...
The way things work in my opinion are extremely even, machine guns have bouncy recoil to even their damage & bullet capacity out dramatically. The game can be played in many styles, for rushers - campers (which I don't promote) & the casual player who moves at a slow/normal pace. Most guns up close gunfights usually turn out funny & interesting as both users are spraying their weapons down.
The sniper rifle is definitely balanced, it's a 2-3 shot to the body & as far as I know, a 1 shot to the head.
Death animations are extremely interesting, I'm not %100 clear on this but I don't think you can skip killcams (I could be just lazy haven't checked the controls), you will also see when you get killed from being head-shot a slow motion death animation will happen, which is in my opinion extremely interesting.
The game types 'Team Instant Action' & 'Crash site' after both enjoyable to play, both featuring fast & slow pace game play to suit all gamers like I previously mentioned. Team instant action is basically the Crysis 2 version of 'Team death-match' where the team with the highest amount of over all kills wins. Crash site is similar to 'Headquarters', where you secure the site & protect it.
From what I know there is no overpowered weapons or attachments at the moment, from what Ive seen...
Oh, and to finish it off. It has dedicated servers that use lobbies.
My over-all opinion on this game is 7/10, once errors are fixed; your able to tweak more (motion blur, field of view & have more graphical modification settings available) the game should be popular, but still I don't think it will have much competition with the Call of Duty series due to popularity of Call of Duty, and preferences between modern warfare to a game that is played 12 years ahead of us.
