Hey everyone,

We are happy to announce the prize pool has now been increased for the Gigabyte Electronic Sports Championships, below are the revised totals:

Prize Money Breakdown (Finals)
1st Place - $2500 AUD
2nd Place - $1200 AUD
3rd Place - $600 AUD

MVP Award: Kingston SSD Drive
Sportsmanship Award: Kingston DDR3 Memory Kit

In addition to the LAN qualifiers that have already been announced there will be a fight for you invite (FFYI) online qualifier. The FFYI online qualifier will consist of maximum of 8 teams and take place over 2 nights on the 22nd and 24th of March.

Registrations for the online qualifier are based on an application process. All teams must submit an application for consideration. Teams are required to put forward a case as to WHY they believe they should be included into the INVITE online qualifier, this case must be specific and detailed. We will not be giving special treatment to any team - sponsored or not. Applications close on Tuesday 15th March at 7pm and the successful candidates will be announced the following day.

The registration fee for the online qualifier will be $150 per team with 1st place receiving $500 towards flights in order to attend the Melbourne final. All remaining money from the online qualifiers will be used to further increase the size of the prize pool.

Applications should be emailed to: admin@gigabyte-esc.com

Because of the ONLINE qualifier only ONE invite will be given to the NZ qualifier, making up 8 teams in the final.

Online Qualifier

Event admin: SASQUATCH

For those wanting to compete in the online qualifier, please do not pay any registration fees until you have been notified that your team has been accepted. Please also read over the ruleset as we have made a few minor changes to it, the rulset can be found here.

No more BYO config.

So will a config be provided that removes dust/foliage or are we playing stock-standard default?

will any teams apart from the top 3-4 compete? im assuming you pay $150 to compete in online qualifiers and then if you dont make it through you have to pay another $150 for lan qualifier not to mention flights etc so

Teams who were planning to fly to another state to qual but now won't because there's an online qualifier: all of them except immunity/x5

Thanks for the online qual though, will certainly make a big difference for the winner

how's this going to work? 4 qualifiers, 2 invites per qualifier + 1 invite from the FFYI

9 teams?

aswell, with this minimum 6 teams - what happens if a qualifier doesn't have 6 teams? i'm assuming it won't run and the invites will be moved to another qual? ie. the online qual?

In regards to submitting a case as to why you should be included into the ONLINE qualifier - this is mainly for teams who believe it would be very hard for them to attend a LAN qualifier and therefore would like an invite to the online.

Also, only one invite will be given to the NZ qualifier because of the ONLINE qualifier..

Minimum teams for a lan qualifier to run is: two teams.
