its good to see you running all of these competitions, but a lot of people are unlikely to play with simple store voucher prizes. bol regardless !

These event are geared towards our internal customers more so then the pros on the outside i.e. the guys that come on a weekly basis etc (hence the use of shop credit), the LoL 5vs5 event has already filled up (8 teams) with an additional 2 teams signing up as reserve spots should anyone drop out and all that has is a small amount of Riot points added to the prize.

We had a sponsor on board but it fell through at the 12th hour hence why LOL was released a week before L4D2 and CS :|

How many actual L4D players live near Burwood/Haymarket to warrant signing up for $400 store credit? Unless that's credit to any Cityhunter?

Not trying to knock your comp or anything, just don't know any srs L4D players that live close enough to those places to take advantage of said credit.

Reav, I'm pre sure they always get numbers down there, just not comp players. I think Chris just likes to extend the invitation out to as many peeps as possible. He frolicks around all the forums on CG doing this when there is comps (GJ Chris).

From a business POV, if you are getting numbers down there, then giving store credit away is a great idea. You put on an event with what is essentially money and make more money back.

If you go Reaver I'm ******* there. Not even joking...

Tratty pretty much sums it up, I generally post all my events on the forums sponsored or not, some communities like the SC II boys dont even care if there arent any prizes at all they just like the opportunity to meet other top SEA players.

The players in our area arent competitive (well professionally anyway), while 'shop credit' is only for PC time IMO if I was to win a large amount of shop credit and I lived far away (which I do, the closet store to my house is Burwood which is still a 40ish minute train ride). I would use it to pay for a room booking for my mates- where you privately book a room of 10 PCs (some stores have 6 or 8 PC rooms that are cheaper) for 3 hours, which is only $105 .

Ahh, I see. Well in that case, sounds jolly good, ol' chap. But is the credit to any CityHunter? Or just where the comp's held at?

Just where its held, Ive asked whether this can be changed but at this time the gift card can only be 'read' at the store its set up as each store has its own system/database (and the barcode would only be on the system where the card is originally set up :|). it is definitely something I hope can change in the future (although it would require a significant overhaul of their current system)/
