if you want 1980x1020 then don't go with the samsung because its max res is 1680x1050
benq and alienware are both excellent in-game. genx has the alienware and i've got the benq.
the benq is a much heaver monitor. it comes with a large base (detachable) that you can store stuff in. it's not a 'headline' feature but i've always found it strangely useful.
the monitor presets for the xl2410T are awful. don't use them. the 'standard' and 'sRGB' presets are the way to go.
both monitors have a height-adjustable stand and can rotate left or right. the alienware can rotate further but the benq is more flexible vertically. this is massively useful for LANs and your general area.
alienware has a touch osd on the bottom right hand side of the monitor. benq's is done by a set of buttons tucked away under the bottom right hand side. i prefer the buttons, but the edges of the alienware aren't that shitty matte black, so constant pressing won't leave fingermarks everywhere.
the benq OSD's a little easier to navigate (once you get the hang of left and right being reversed once you're in a menu). the alienware looks like it has more features though; benq's options can be restricted depending on what settings/presets you have available.
alienware's base/stand is matte black. it's fairly small, which is good if you're limited for space. looks like shit every time you pick it up though; fingerprints everywhere.
benq has hdmi (doesn't support 120hz though). alienware comes with hdmi, as well as firewire and four USB ports. alienware clearly wins out here.
i had to RMA my benq a couple of months back; had a dead bright pixel. benq had a 3 year policy on 0 pixels and they returned it within the week, although they called me up when i was asleep (i sleep during the day, not much i can do about that) because they couldn't find it.
alienware optx comes from dell; dell's customer support is the best in the industry by a country mile. alienware wins again.
my only doubt with the benq is the image quality when watching movies isn't that good. there's a bit of backlight bleeding as well, although it's minimal. if the prices are the same, i'd consider the alienware first.
when it comes to games, the benq is easily just as good as the alienware. genx told me he was happy when he played on one for the cod nats just passed. but its the extra features with the alienware, the OSD and the colour that pits it over the line imo. that said, i'm not unhappy with my purchase at all. (if you had to rate them, it'd be like 75-80% to 85-90%. neither monitor is a 'bad' buy.)
