My 120 hz monitor choppy/blurry

Hi, so i just recieved my 120 hz monitor and obviously when you go to change it right click > screen res> advanced > 120 hz etc my screen will go blurry / choppy as i change it, i can hardly read text and is very annoying. That is when i am on 1920x1280 or w/e it is Res. but when i change back to 60 hertz and 1680x1050 res its fine.

23' monitor
16:9

Also when i just use 1920x1080 without changing to 120 hz its all fine and not choppy.
anyone know what could be wrong?

Are you using a dual link dvi cable?

i got a 5770
i7 860 2.8 ghz

running 64bit
