Memory maker GeIL will be branching out into the gaming peripheral industry under the brand name EpicGear. Their first product will be, surprise surprise, a gaming mouse.

According to EpicGear, this isn't just any other gaming mouse with lights and a gazillion buttons. The EpicGear MeduZa will be first in the world to incorporate Hybrid Dual Sensor Technology - marketing-speak for both optical and laser sensors. A switch on the underside will allow on-the-fly changing between optical, laser, and HDST (combined) sensor modes. According to them, HDST combines the speed of laser sensors and the stability of optical sensors to provide the best experience, reducing the problems of jitter, skip and drift.

Pro gamers were also consulted to ensure a 'perfect gaming-ergonomic design' for those long, long hours of gaming.

The laundry list of gaming mouse features include 1000Hz USB 2.0 polling rate, 7 programmable buttons with macro support, 5 gaming profiles, customizable LED colors and 128KB of onboard memory. All this is powered by a ARM 32-bit Cortex-M3 processor. You also get a 2-year warranty.

The price for all this? USD79.99. Not the cheapest gaming mouse around, but hardly the most expensive either (we're looking at you, Razer.). The MeduZa will be on show at Computex, and is expected to hit stores sometime in Q3 2011.

Looks interesting. The dual sensor thing could be a massive gimmick, we'll find out soon enough.

Im actually kinda keen to check this out....
Just from looking at this, some of the pros look to be an actual optical sensor (no details on what though) and it
looks SLIGHTLY based on the ime 3.0 shape (similar curve, esp on mouse1/2). 400 DPI is a +1 also!

The massive issue is going to be the sensor placement. Having an off center sensor has proved disastrous for mice in the past and that was only on the X axis, this is on Y. Could lead to some really weird feeling mouse. Also we need to be able to set 500hz without drivers.

The name makes me want to kill myself though...
