What if you follow an admin that you thought was cool and he banned people that turned out not to be hackers? Or someone raged as a one off thing and he got banned but he might be an all right guy. I think admins should just worry about their own servers and deal with the hackers/trolls when they come.

You can stop following that person. Problem solved.

You can also whitelist people, so that even if they are banned elsewhere, they can still play on your server.

Remember the BF2 banning process...Never got old watching people use Screenshots and Fraps footage as blackmail on global chat haha.

I wouldn't like Metabans to be implemented...I've seen some ridiculous hackusations over my years and i think this will just put a couple of inches in the pants of little children admins and give a period pain sized headache to general players.

Metabans isn't replacing anything, it just allows admins to share their bans to anyone that wants to use them too..

It allows 10 years olds to bitch together. It's just like a union of prepubescents.

the idea sounds good in theory, but is wrecked for obvious reasons. best way would be to organise to have a group of all the respected servers/admin follow each other, and access to the group is done by vote/community decision, ie if they **** something up like banning me for shotting ****s fases off then they can be removed.

otherwise itd fail quite hard when the angry 45yr olds ban everyone that kills them (cgl).

You'll soon be able to follow # tags. Hash tags are applied to bans, to give them some sort of context. An example would be #teamkilling, #abusive #cheating etc.. This allows for you to enforce only a certain type of ban on your server.
