Well I just installed ET today and followed all the instructions on how to manually install ET but for some reason it keeps on going to this grey screen and then it says ET.exe is not responding. Is there anyway to fix this?

are you using a custom config?

nope, just installed it today.

edit: it was just working until i updated the client with PunkBuster...

either update pb manually again (run the pbupdate.exe)

Or create an create an autoexec.cfg (place it in your etmain folder) containing the following command:

pb_cl_disable

once the game loads, open console and enter:

pb_cl_enable

Sometimes Evenbalance (PB) is a and has trouble connecting to their servers or whatever. This wont be an issue if you play in a ladder match however as the SLAC anti-cheat disables PB on launch.

Done the manual update but it didn't work. Did the Autoexec.cfg file still didn't work. Should I try to reinstall it?

1. Try closing Firefox before starting ET.

2. This is not likely but pnkbstrA.exe or pnkbstrB.exe might be getting blocked by your firewall as well, you can allow both (also check if either is running under Task Manager, only one needs to be active).

3. In the past when people have had this issue they just left it on the grey screen for a while and it eventually fixed itself. Its basically just PB getting hung on initiating itself.

u sure u using the patch .exe and not the old .exe

try changing the compatibility mode on ET.exe (right click)



and check run as administrator.

I still think it is punkbuster being a but other than trying the above, your last option is to re-install.
