First off, for anyone thinking about or in the process of making a new vid, I highly suggest checking out: http://www.sourceradio.com/modules.php?name=Vault&page=soundtracks

Its basically a handy database of music that has been used in frag vids before as well as links to the actual videos that have used a given song. The list is by no means comprehensive, (only lists songs used by hosted videos) but it does give a good general guide as to what has been done to death and what hasn't.

Furthermore, in an effort to give people on cg some music inspiration/ideas, I thought it might be worth setting up this thread as a collective input of songs that people have come across that they think have good frag vid potential, whether it be for its Synching strength, lyrics, or simply due to its unique nature.

(Keyword unique, don't bother listing songs that have already been used extensively) Local made stuff in particular would be useful.

Anyways presuming people think this might be a good idea, thought I'd get the ball rolling.

Sub Focus - Rock It

DNB/Electro artist, has a similar sound to Pendulum. Has a nice unused (to my knowledge) remix of prodigy's Smack My Bitch Up too.

Blue Stahli - Ultranumb

SHITloads of potential, like his friend Celldweller (co-produces a lot of Stahli's stuff) you'll find his songs are starting to pop up more and more. A lot of videos have been using short tracks from his antisleep album, this song is pretty new (was out in july) and has already been used (badly) in a random 1.6 vid on SK. Expect to see this one more and more, great song though.

Julien-K - Technical Difficulties

Has been used in one or two source vids that I know of, pretty cool track though hasn't been used to its full potential from what I've seen. You will probably recognise it from the first transformers film soundtrack.

Pitchshifter - Genius

Another industrial style track with good synch potential. Was used wayyyy back in some old 1.6 videos and more recently in a source vid, have a few other songs across a couple of their later albums that are also decent.

Great idea! Stickied.

I won't say what songs I'm using for my latest and/or future movies but I love good variety, upcoming movie has alternative rock, one song of the fragpart is Aussie as well. Not everyone's cup of tea (or my own for that matter) but I think it works well and is slightly unique for CoD movies. The movie after that is all electro, yay!

No offence motion, but that song made my ears burn and if I ever heard it in a frag vid I'd probably turn it off.. but each to their own i guess.

It was blatantly a joke.

Anyway, I'm a massive fan of Bullet for my Valentines new album 'Fever' and was thinking for my upcoming video this (A Place Where You Belong) for the first bit/intro with the shot coming in at 0:14, fading that song out at 0:42 and then continuing with (Pleasure and Pain)

when you make frag movies, do you request permission from the publisher to use their music? and if anyone's done it how much did you have to pay?
