I've written a stats based team autobalancer for bfbc2 and (maybe) bf3. The hope is for this to eventually be an extension to an admin tool, or even included in a game, to prevent imbalances that eventually lead to a servers death.

I'd like help from the community here to supply me with a list of in-game names from some of the better teams still playing. Their stats must be available on http://bfbcs.com/

Once I have 16 names I'll run them through and show the results. Then I would like feedback about the resulting 8v8 teams. Do you think they are fair? Close enough? What would you change to make them fair (maybe even why..)?

is 8v8 even played in bc2 pubs? whos going to want to be split randomly, most people prefer to play games with friends/clan m8s, i dont see how this would be popular outside of tog and its 5,000 members?

The example and request were intentionally left a simple 8v8 outcome so people here could relate to the competition of the teams it produced. The resulting algorithm is not limited to the number of teams, the sizes of the team and factors in squads - even groups of friends if I had access to this data. It's designed to be as generic as possible to span multiple games.

I agree with Sadact, I hate servers that randomly jumble up teams when your playing with friends...Though I'll be a guinea pig if needed.

not a fan of battlefield auto balance as people have just said a lot play with people they know and in squads etc... even though I don't mind playing against people I know just for some fun it is not as enjoyable is playing with them.

Good idea, I was wondering the other day if an intelligent auto-balance/scrambler existed. Hopefully BF3 has a better party option planned.
