what would be the better bang for the buck, im on limited budget so i can't afford to go out and get a new motherboard just to switch to Intel, i only plan on changing CPU and RAM, currently got a HD6870 on the way (thanks karma)

but yeah, which CPU out of the x4 and x6 phenoms would be my best bet to get.

x4 is better for gaming, whilst the extra cores in x6 is better for editing etc.

also depends on the ghz, i'm assuming the x4 ghz would be higher

Phenom II x2 550.

I had the Phenom 2 X6 1090T BE a month ago and it was awful for Bad Company 2, dunno if it was just me but it froze up for a couple ms every now and then.

Decided "**** it" and switched to an Intel 2600k and it's amazing. Almost twice as good.

I'd probably go for the quad core.

neither.

bulldozer probs just a bios upgrade with your am3 board, if not a 990FX chipset.

i myself run a O/C 1055T x6 runs everything flawlessly, although wait it out a month or two and buy the new chip rather then spending now.

what will the price of the bulldozer be though?
