This upcoming CyberGamer season looks to be one of the most hotly contested coming off the back of the recent GotGames nationals. Teams such as Exile5, Voxeminor and Immunity will be hotly contesting the title in the league's top division. The competition from there down is also very tight with placing's up for grabs in both division 1 and division 2. Here is an insight into how the teams are preparing for the upcoming season and what teams they expect to be headlining each division.

Hey Wolfy, thanks for taking the time to speak with me.
Carnage Wolfy[2G]: Thanks for having me DB.

Let's get straight into it, with the recent roster shuffles of Carnage most noteably losing core members ReborN and ubrlrD how has the team been shaping up?
Carnage Wolfy[2G]: Since nationals a few weeks ago the team has been taking it easy playing a maximum of three days a week. However since picking up tegs and hnk we have already noticed a huge improvement. Our first full week of practice begins tonight in which we will be focusing solely on strats and holds.

Interesting stuff, can you see your team competing with the teams in Australia's top division?
Carnage Wolfy[2G]: There is no doubt in my mind when i say we are more than capable of competing in Professional. Hnk and Tegs have both played in Professional prior to joining this team, Fattat and I have played at the top end of Intermediate and at multiple national events. Haz is our only player lacking experience but anyone who has played with or against him knows he is an incredible talent. I will be very surprised if we aren't selected for both CGI DIV1 and CEVO P.

I love the confidence! Take us into the average week of a member from Clan Carnage, you guys are renowned for the effort you put in, how much do you guys really practice?
Carnage Wolfy[2G]: Before the 2011 GotGames National event, we played 5 nights a week. We weren't like most Australian teams who purely played against other teams and call it "practice". Carnage prior to Nationals had every map heavily stratted, from co-ordinated rushes, fakes, double pumps, decos and ecos pretty much everything you can name we had it. Our Counter-Terrorist holds were just as complex as our Terrorist strategies. This practice schedule lasted the best part of three months, with our disappointing performance at nationals the players who remained in the team decided to take a step back and only play 3 nights a week. Since then we are all enjoying the more relaxed version of CS, however i am not sure if it will pay off although i think when you have 5 P players you don't need to play as much as you would with three Professional two Intermediate.

It can be argued that teams which scrim regularly without much practice can also compete due to the random nature of source, what do you think of this statement?
Carnage Wolfy[2G]: I think that opinion can only get you so far, i believe if you have naturally talented players yes you can scrim your way through main and most of Intermediate. However once you hit the top four of Intermediate or even low Professional you need to start stratting or you will simply crumble under the organisation and discipline of the teams with chemistry and teamwork. Australian source is a lot more random and individually based then the European and American scene where most of their teams have exceptional teamwork and strats but of course this is due to keeping the same lineup for a long period of time, most Australian teams struggle to do this.

Do you have any advice for aspiring teams out there on how to practice properly and efficiently?
Carnage Wolfy[2G]: I wont give too much away as i have learnt some quite vital tips through my expierences but i will say attitude and dedication is the key. Moving up the CSS ranks takes time and is something that cannot be rushed, unless you are dimojr. Start by pugging and playing in amateur and if you have what it takes someone will notice you. If you are like me a natural leader maybe start your own team but one thing I highly advise always respect your team mates no matter how bad they are, this is something i learnt the hard way. All in all if you really want to go to the top you will but it is a lot of hard work and patience.

Lastly, who do you see competing in this season's CyberGamer Western Digital CSS Division 1?
Carnage Wolfy[2G]: I think the teams who definitely deserve to be in in that league are iM, Voxe, x5 and Mindfreak. iM, Voxe and x5 have proven themselves both online and at LAN whilst Mindfreak have had the same lineup for almost eight months now and they have done very well recently. I would of put Qlimax amongst these names also but after losing two of their core i am not sure if they are still playing, if they do be sure to see them there. Zenith, Revelations, Carnage, ttgiga in my opinion all have something to prove so i honestly couldn't pick the remaining four spots. People will disagree with me on this but i really dislike the ruling where if you keep three players from your original you do not drop a division. Teams get lazy with the mind set "we are already in P so we don't need to prac" it also makes it harder for upcoming teams such as Vanq, Carnage and Mindfreak to enter the top division due to lack of spots. Guess we will have to wait and see!

Thanks for your time Wolfy[2G]!
Carnage Wolfy[2G]: Pleasure.
