Well this is part two of the critically acclaimed super series of pre-season interviews for Season 5. This time we take a look into the unknown with potential Division 1 contenders Qlimax as we delve into the possibilities for them this upcoming season and perhaps a sneak peak at what their lineup may be.
Hey Kerm, thanks for taking the time to speak with me.
qlimax KermiT Tritton: Hey Deebee, no problem.
First off, coming off the back of a solid 3rd place finish at the GotGames Nationals, why did some players leave?
qlimax KermiT Tritton: Everyone had their own reasons really, Simby's was due to finishing off year 12, devK to my knowledge just wanted a break and was done with source for now. Todd and I are still interested in playing, as is Marto however he may be taking a very short break soon.
There has been some uncertainty as to whether Qlimax will be fielding a team in this season's 1st Division . Is this true and if not who can we expect to see in this team?
qlimax KermiT Tritton: As it stands at the moment we plan on having a team together with a more strat based lineup to take on the rest of the teams that are around. It seems basically everyone is taking a bit of a break at the moment or sorting out lineup issues so I can't really answer who will be in the team, but we will be on the lookout for mature players who can play for the team.
With this strat based play, how do you think this team will fair up compared to Voxe, iM and x5?
qlimax KermiT Tritton: I think we can definitely hold our own, and showed that at LAN drawing with iM on inferno and beating x5 on train and only just losing on tuscan. Obviously with any new team there are teething issues and we might not match it with them straight away in scrims. But really scrims count for about as much as drippy's one pube and it's when the matches start that we'll make sure to be competitive. Todd, I and Marto have played a lot together and while people might not rate us as the sharpest going around we've always shown we can mix it with the rest. So hopefully we can bring a team together that continues to do so.
Confidence seems to be a trend, awesome! What preparations will the team be making to realize this goal?
qlimax KermiT Tritton: It's pretty easy to be confident when we've all been playing for a long time and constantly been at or close to the top. People might say were burnt toast or whatever but the reality is majority of those people are at best in intermediate and will continue to be. We'll be doing the same as any other team and just practicing our strats and scrimming regularly, there's not a lot else you really can do in Australia.
Interesting, who do you think will shine for Qlimax this season and why?
qlimax KermiT Tritton: We all play our part and I wouldn't say anyone really shines, we each have our own on and off nights. Sometimes it's me deagling, other times it's geronimo clutching, or Marto just fragging but I just expect we'll all play our part. The only exception might be whoever we pick up standing out.
Now into the standard questions, do you have any tips for aspiring teams out there to progress to the top echelons of CSS?
qlimax KermiT Tritton: There's not really any tips except keep practicing and learn of the people you play against. Don't be scared to vs teams that are above your level but if you do and get stomped, learn something from it don't just get the sooks or crack the shits and not play them again. Take something from it and beat them or do better next time.
I'm sure that will be helpful! Lastly, who do you think will be competing in this season CyberGamer Western Digital 1st Division?
qlimax KermiT Tritton: Really, outside the usual teams, such as iM, voxe, x5 and us I really don't know who will be in there. Archaic might scrap something together I guess but besides that who knows. Tt.GIGA as well I guess? I suppose we'll have to wait and see.
Great! Thanks for speaking with me KermiT!
qlimax KermiT Tritton: Too easy, cheers.
