Here we are with Part 3, this time we have an insight into the illustrious Vox Eminor CSS "super team" formed in 2010 by none other than Scotty "Boomser". Following a vast array of successful and consistent results to say the least, undoubtedly having finished joint 3rd at the recent GotGames Nationals the team will have greater desire than ever to affirm their position as the best Australian CSS team.
Hey Boomser, thanks for speaking with me.
-vox- ScottyB: All good =)
Well to start off let's begin with the basics, can you outline the goals for Voxeminor heading into the business end of 2011?
-vox- ScottyB: Basically like any other professional team/organisation we are looking to attend and compete in every event we can. Voxe as an organisation is growing extremely fast and have already reaped a lot of awards from being in this type of organisation that is ran by the right people for the certain goals we are after. The CSS main goal is to win that major tournament that we believe we rightfully deserve.
Politically well put, being another team renowned for time and effort spent in the game, how will the team prepare to succeed?
-vox- ScottyB: I don't know how many times we usually explain that we actually don't put in that much time as people think, it's not that we don't want to but we pretty much only get to practice 3-4days a week due to peoples commitments. I'm not making any excuses at all I'm just explaining that before GotGames Stefan went to Melbourne for 2 weeks prior to the GG nationals and we probably only ended up with 4-5 days of practice as a team before the event. I don't how we got that stigma that people think we are some extremely well drilled team even though we want to achieve. But I can tell you now Immunity probably put in more effort into dry running/time spent on the game than most. As for the question at hand we actually want to end up being a well drilled team but our worst enemy isn't the other teams, it can sometimes be ourselves. We rely a lot on our in game and out of game chemistry we have to achieve the goals we want as a team.
Having narrowly lost to the star studded Team Immunity lineup at the GotGames Nationals, do you believe this team will cause troubles for your team in the immediate and hopefully long term future?
-vox- ScottyB: That is hard to answer, I think simply yes they are always going to be a strong team with great experienced players, something that my team may lack in sometimes. I think we are a better "team" than Immunity and I can see why people may think where the hell is he coming with that? Anybody that watched the game would notice it was extremely close and always backwards/forwards for both teams, but the end result showed Voxe 30 Gun rounds to iM 23 with certain players from iM single handily changing the game ( emagine 25-2 as CT especially ). The game is my eyes came down to the pistol rounds that we unfortunately weren't able to win any out of the 4 that were played giving the opposition a clear 3-0 or 4-0 start to each half. Regardless, every time the two teams play it's going to be a great match for many different reasons.
I've heard rumors circulating around the Voxe camp that the only reason eXile5 won the GG Nationals was because Immunity were tired. Do you have any comment?
-vox- ScottyB: I think you have to ask Immunity that one, but I can definitely state that our game was extremely tough. Like I said it was an emotional rollercoaster with both teams jumping backwards and forwards in rounds. We left when our game was over so I don't know how the team immunity guys were at the time of their finals. I did see a change in attitude when exile5 realised they would be facing QMX instead of Immunity giving them a little bit more motivation and hope. Maybe it was more the factor of exile5 stepping up rather than immunity being burnt. Who knows? Exile5 won at the end of the day and that is all people are going to remember.
Interesting, well what is it that has allowed Voxe to compete SO consistently since its establishment? I'm sure it's not just the practice.
-vox- ScottyB: Chemistry, it's the first time I have been in a team where we are all mates, and there usually aren't any secrets or negativity amongst the team. Before games and sometimes after we hang out and do things as a team. The time spent in Melbourne was great because it just further proved how well the team gets along with each other. So it really comes down to a stable lineup and management. We are the only team that has not changed lineup since the start of the year.
That's maybe something other teams can learn from. I know it has been the desire of some within the CSS community, but does Voxe have any interest or plans to compete overseas in the future?
-vox- ScottyB: No plans and there is no point in thinking about it until we actually win consistent tournaments and prove we are worthy. Especially today I don't think you can say any team is the consistent best in Australia at the moment.
If you were to go over and compete, how do you think Voxe would compete? And how do you think the AU CSS community fairs up compared to the Euro/American scenes.
-vox- ScottyB: Wow, I think I would personally need to write a novel to answer the last part. In regards to voxe being able to compete, I'm not sure but I personally don't think we are ready for it due to our lack of experience in some areas. I know we are a good team but we haven't learnt to keep form in certain situations and pressure is usually one of them. To answer the last question I'll try and make it as SIMPLE as possible "Experience > Skill" and with the right players Australia can for sure come Top 3 internationally. No doubt but it has to be done with the right players, and right now there isn't a team that can or should.
Interest perspective! Time for the standard questions, do you have any tips for aspiring teams out there to progress to the top echelons of CSS?
-vox- ScottyB: Attitude , Practice , Stability.
Attitude: Make sure everybody is on the same wave-length and are in it for the same reason as each other. Practice: Isn't all about quantity as much as quality but being able to use the time well and efficiently.
Stability: There is no easy fix, try work with what you have before discarding certain players.
Very helpful indeed, who do you see competing in the upcoming CyberGamer Western Digital Invite Division 1 for Season 5?
-vox- ScottyB: Voxe , Qlimax , Immunity , Carnage , Exile5 , MindFreak , Archaic ( some form of 1.6 team ? ) and Tt.GIGA. Teams that practice constantly and attend the national events should get preference in most cases.
Awesome, thanks for your incite Boomser!
-vox- ScottyB: No problem mate, Glad to dish out the opinions and facts I have =). Thanks to voxe sponsors CM Storm , CoolerMaster , Razer , Western digital and Kingston !
