Hey guys,
I am currently in the process of buying/building my PC. Our school is putting together a day where we build a computer as well as buying the parts in bulk. I am not quite sure whether it is a good computer or not as I havnt played PC or researched computers at all. The parts must be all bought together but i can buy extra parts to replace the bad parts. Here are the specs and maybe you can tell me what you think? It is costing $670

CPU: Intel Core i5 2500K
Mother Board: Asrock Z68 Pro3 B3
Ram: G.Skill-N 8GB
HDD: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB
Case: Centurion Coolermaster 5 II 500W
ODD: Lite-On IHAS324 24x DVDRW
CPU HSF: Coolermaster Universal Hyper 212+

Apparently there is a graphics card built into the CPU but am happy to buy something like a Geforce GTX 560 or something like that. As I said I dont know anything about computers and need some help.

Cheers
hennerz

LOLWHAT?

Also the "GPU" inside the CPU is more or less a basic graphics chip, nothing to be compared to a dedicated GPU card.

So basically your school needs new PC's and don't want to have to buy from IBM or build them themselves so they're getting students to put them together.

Sounds legit!

No they are buying them in bulk for us to buy. We go to a day where we all build them together and then we keep them.

Okay maybe i havnt explained it very well or something I dont know. I am a part of the IT team at school. The IT team holds LANs every couple of weeks and they say they want more people to get into gaming and come. So they are bulk buying PCs and anyone who wants to buy one buys one and then we all go and build them together.

Are people saying the computer is bad or the idea is crap?

idea seems ok, but they wont be getting them that cheap really, some of the parts are pretty average.

CPU: Intel Core i5 2500K - good cpu
Mother Board: Asrock Z68 Pro3 B3 - terrible board, make them get asus z68's
Ram: G.Skill-N 8GB - gskill or corsair, i prefer corsair but thats me
HDD: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB - decent drive
Case: Centurion Coolermaster 5 II 500W - rubbish, cheap and plastic. can be rattly and annoying
ODD: Lite-On IHAS324 24x DVDRW
CPU HSF: Coolermaster Universal Hyper 212+ - theyre ok, the cheap aywun coolers do the same or better for less coin

k thnx. Cause they are buying the parts in bulk they are getting it cheaper and they said they cannot change the parts. Do you reckon I should just build my own computer even if i have no experience at building a computer.
