Pre-finals interviews by Netsky


Firstly I want to say that these interviews ended up being way longer than I intended and I just want to thank the captains of the teams for their patience. Secondly I just want to wish everyone good luck for the finals.


Frenetic Array - eDGe

Firstly eDGe congratulations on a flawless season and making it into the finals.
Your 1st place has you facing off against 8th placed iGangstas in the first round. How confident are you leading up to this match and who do you expect to play in the following rounds?

fray` eDGe: Rather confident coming in to the match, we haven't played iG before but from what we have seen from previous matches it should be an interesting game.

Which teams in the series do you think have the best shot of making it into the Grand Final and who do you think poses the greatest threat?

fray` eDGe: I'm not entirely sure on who the powerhouses of blackops are, but I've seen CQR talking themselves up quite a bit and I know that they are putting in a lot of effort. So I think that they have the possibility of being the biggest threat.

Yourself, Redding and Yellow are also scheduled to do some casting namely the Featured Gaming vs. Auxiliary game. Can we expect you to cast any other games timetables allowing?

fray` eDGe: Yeah we plan to get a few games casted, once times are given we will be able to have more games to cast that dont conflict with our own.

Are there any specific matches in the series that you yourself want to cast or at least have casted by someone else?

fray` eDGe: I would defiantly like to see the Grand Final casted, but I'm not sure of the possibility of that. Some potential games that I would like to cast are the semi's that I hope to cast - should be some interesting games.

You've stated that you don't plan to continue with Black Ops past this season, will your team be disbanding or moving to one of the new November release games or perhaps even going back to CoD4?

fray` eDGe: Yes that's correct, my team has made plans to move on from the Frenetic Array organisation and seek new games to play, for example Redding and Yellow are remaking aK^ for BF3 and I'm continuing to play CoD4 for the time being. We dont have any current arrangement to stay on the blackops ladder, but there may be the possibility of returning if there is any future competitions.

Featured Gaming - PacMan

Firstly PacMan, congratulations on making it into the finals series. The season thus far has been quite successful for your team, how do you think your finals prospects will go?

FT` PacMan: Hey thanks it's great to be here. Coming into finals, we are feeling quite confident in ourselves. It has been a long, arduous season but now it's show time.

You've drawn Auxiliary in the first round, have you played against them before? And how do you think you'll fare against them in the finals?

FT` PacMan: We have played them once before in a war. It was a close match which was played on WMD. Coming up on Villa, I think we will do quite well. We have been pretty dominant on Villa even though we have never offered it in a challenge.

The game is scheduled to be cast by maxcastonline.com by Edge Yellow and Redding, members from Fray. How do you feel about having one of your games cast by members of the team favoured to win the finals and a team you could possibly face in the series?

FT` PacMan: I am not too overly fussed by it. I don't think them casting or not will have a big difference if we do end up playing each other. We have more than a few strats so I think we will be safe.

In your run to the grand final, is there any team you think might pose a serious challenge to your chances of getting to the big game?

FT` PacMan: Of the finals series, we have drawn the toughest run to finals in my opinion. AUX first round then potentially CQR second round will both be challenging but I know we can win both games if we condition ourselves correctly.

Who do you expect to make it into the Season 1 Grand Final?

FT` PacMan: I expect to see Fray in there as they have been so dominant all season and my own team, Featured Gaming to meet them in the Grand Final.

Lastly, good luck for the finals and are there any shout-outs or thanks you'd like to make?

FT` PacMan: Thanks Net for doing excellent interview. I would like a very big shout-out and thank you to my Co-Captains Audac!ty and Netsky. Wouldn't have gotten this far without either of them. Also a shout-out to A.J and his incoherent ramblings on TS but then goes on to 4 down clutch defuse, Chao for his multitasking skills (able to play LoL and BO and win at both) and Crow who has some of the best moves and clutches I have seen. Also a very big thank you to Featured Gaming for picking us up and letting us play under the glorious FT` banner and our partners vNode.


Team Elevate - Raptor


Firstly Raptor, well done on reaching the finals and rounding out 3rd on the ladder.
How do you think your season has been thus far?

#elevate`Raptor: So far the season has been pretty good, we've had a few up's and downs but in the end we are happy with a solid thrid place. Also with the introduction of Koil's promod, it has improved the way black ops can be played competitviely and we look forward to playing CQR in the finals.

You've drawn a tough initial game vs. Conquer. Have you played them before and do you have any plans to cause a big first round upset?

#elevate`Raptor: We have never played CQR on the CG ladder before so we expect this to be an interesting yet tough match. It's hard to make a judgement as of yet, but as always, we will give it our best and we will see months of hard work being put to the test.

Given that there was initial resistance from some teams and admins to using a mod in the finals series, how do you expect the reversal of that decision will affect the finals?

#elevate`Raptor: The reversal of this decision was greatly welcomed amongst our team and the top 8. With the use of promod, we expect the finals to be played in a more competitive manner with a focus on player skill and strategy, as well as teamwork in order to succeed.

Does your team plan to play Black Ops in season 2?

#elevate`Raptor: With most the team being in Year 12 and will be sitting the HSC in 2 months time, we may have problems becoming active enough. Despite this though, we have agreed to continue on to the next season.

Do you think that we will see any upsets in the coming games?

#elevate`Raptor: So far it's pretty hard to determine but we will see in time which teams deserve to take the top spots on the ladder.

Who would be your tips for the two teams making the Grand Final?

#elevate`Raptor: We are placing our bets on Frenetic Array and Featured Gaming to duke it out head to head in the Grand Finals.

Carnage - Lockii

Congratulations Lockii on making it into the Season 1 Finals.
How do you feel Carnages first season has gone?

Carnage Lockii: Cheers mate, ahhh it's been an eventful one to say the least. We have had few problems within the squad but it's all worked out alright now.

You've recently picked up, somewhat controversially and publicly, notable players from Saevio. How big an impact do you think this will have on your success in the upcoming finals?

Carnage Lockii: Haha, Yeah, i spoke to virtue quite a few weeks ago about joining up for finals. As it is we have only picked up nozzle and virtue. They are both good, smart players and people generally forget that due to virtues taunts. I think this is a positive move for both nozzle and virtue and also carnage. We seem to work well together. And we will definitely be a strong squad for finals.

Your first game is against Para| |el Gaming who you played initially to get into the series. How do you think you will fare against them a second time round on Villa given that the first game on Grid was exceptionally close and that you looked to be losing control of the game until the last moments?

Carnage Lockii: Yeah we played well for the first half of the game. I think we were up 10-3 at one stage, and we just lost concentration and they started to put a bit more pressure on us. We won the game 13-10. It was a learning curve for us, we lost concentration and nearly lost the match, we were lucky enough to be on defense for last 2 rounds and were able to bring it back. They are a good team, and we won't take them lightly next map.

Do you predict any upsets to happen in the finals series or do you think it will all play out like everyone expects?

Carnage Lockii: Who knows, I hope there is, might make the finals interesting. But can't be sure. The favorites are favorites for a reason. Fray are a great team, and so are some of the other teams in finals, Featured Gaming have been consistent throughout the whole season and so has Brady/CQR.

And who do you anticipate will be playing in the Grand Final?

Carnage Lockii: Most probably Fray v CQR i hope not though. I want a roughie in there.

Does your team plan to continue with Black Ops or will you be going back to old games or looking to play new ones?

Carnage Lockii: It all depends on what the community is doing. If Fray and other top teams begin to drop then we will most probably drop to. With the release of bf3 beta falling almost in line with the commencement of next season I doubt there will be enough interest to play next season. But who knows, maybe now that there is a stable promod for blops next season might have more interest. We have some members of our team like NightFall and nubemassive that will concentrate on the next season of cod4. So it's hard to say what we will do, only time will tell.

Apples, congratulations on a successful first season and making the finals.
How do you think your season went?

I I Apples.MS: I think our season went fairly well. To get into the final top 8 is a good achievement for us as we are a fairly new team that has just gotten involved in the competitive scene.

In a twist of fate you're scheduled to play Carnage in the first round, the same team that beat you to get a spot in the finals. You came awfully close to beating them in the game on Grid with a valiant comeback but it wasn't enough. How do you think you will go a second time round on Villa?

I I Apples.MS: I believe our team will be more prepared this time and with a stable roster now I think we will be able to preform to our peak.

What are the teams plans post finals? Will you be continuing with a second season of Black Ops or looking to different games?

I I Apples.MS: I think the main goal of our team is to stick together and compete whether it be in Black Ops or a different game, I would like to see black ops do better next season with promod being implemented but it's up to all of the teams to keep competing to keep the game.

Who do you expect to see in the Grand Final?

I I Apples.MS: I think it's safe to say Frenetic Array will be in the grand final with CQR but there are other teams with potential to come out on top.

Conquer - SobSoldier

[b]Congratulations Sob on making the season 1 finals and on a successful first season. 
How do you think your season has been so far?

CQR SobSoldier: Hey Netsky, well after making the team a while back, there have been so many changes in the team it hasn't been until recent that we have had a defined core. Spree2g went and got himself banned before he could even play a war for us, penguin, efia, rekk and min all went back to cod4, i havent had net for 2 months, the list goes on and on. I think 4 of our last 7 wars have been with 4 people. But overall it's been pretty good.

Your first game is against Team Elevate. You're the clear favourites for this game and also to be in the finals against the finals favourite Fray. How do you expect this game and the rest of your finals series will unfold and how confident are you on a successful finals series?

CQR SobSoldier: The game against Elevate will go fairly quick unless their beast Raptor does some damage. I'm pretty certain we'll do some damage against whoever we go up against.

I'll give you my tips for the finals, Featured Gaming vs Auxiliary is the only hard decision I've had to make because I think they are both decent teams.

Game 1: 1 Frenetic Array {WIN} vs. 8 iGangstas: Paper Plane Gang
Game 2: 2 Featured Gaming {WIN} vs. 7 Auxiliary 
Game 3: 3 Team Elevate vs. 6 {WIN} Conquer
Game 4: 4 Carnage {WIN} vs. 5 Parallel 

Semi Final 1: Frenetic Array {WIN} vs. Carnage
Semi Final 2: Featured Gaming vs. Conquer {WIN}

Final: Conquer vs. Frenetic Array = We'll see.
The main advantage that Frenetic Array have on us is that they have been together since the start of blops when they were carnage.

Do you think there are any teams that pose a threat to your finals hopes?

CQR SobSoldier: I think featured gaming will put up a good fight, keen to play them, besides them no.

You've been quite vocal about the incident involving Saevio and Carnage, how do you think they will do in the finals? 

CQR SobSoldier: The main reason why I have been vocal is they pretend not to care about black ops, then clan hop at the last second to get into finals, but I have made a thread about that already so there's no need to go over it again. I'm just doing a bit of shit stirring, for a bit of fun. Nozzle is a good guy and very good but I know he's buried in uni work so for him it all depends on how much time he puts in, also bad luck for them because they can't use flea (joined after 13th). Virtue is a really good player also so if he's on his game it will make it interesting. They will beat parralol and then lose to fray.

What are your teams plans post finals, do you plan to continue with Black Ops or do you plan to move on to a different game?

CQR SobSoldier: Bundy and fiveam are wowfags and have turned brady into a wowfag so after finals they will all go be gay fgts together <3. After not having internet for so long i have put my life priorities back in order so i will be gaming a lot less and doing more physical activities. If koils mod is used next season i'll keep the team going but with lack of competition we won't be too enthused. Might make a cod4 team too with the boys and just play that casually mixed with some heroes of newerth. Teks will be the next iM Nick. Spree will hurry up and be unbanned so he can join our ventures.

Congratulations Vox on making the finals and on your successful first season.
How do you think your first season of Black Ops has gone?

AUX Vox #BPG: Yeh thanks, been lots of ups and downs, but overall a good season.

You've drawn Featured Gaming in the first round, have you played them before and how confident are you of a win?

AUX Vox #BPG: Yeh we respect them as a team and we see them as a pretty big threat so we will be takiing this match pretty seriously. We also respect them for playing promod in terms of wins or loss we are not too sure about this match villa is not our strongest match so that will prove challenging but we will try to make it a fun.

The game is scheduled to be cast by maxcastonline.com, and was the first of the finals games announced to be cast. Do you think this makes a difference at all to how the game will be played with the nerves of finals and being casted coming into play or do you think that it makes little to no difference?

AUX Vox #BPG: It makes no difference to us. Casting is something we are all use to, and it's a part of the game. eDGe and redding do a great job so I am sure it will be fun. We also like being shoutcasted so we can have other people's opinion of the match

How confident are you of your finals prospects?

AUX Vox #BPG : At the moment we are concentrating on finals, but have not set goals high. We dont really like the layout of finals but it is something we have to deal with. After finals we will being concerntrating on COD4 CGo to look for a better pathway into a different game. So we are not to worried about this finals

Who do you expect to see in the Grand Final?

AUX Vox #BPG: I I have no idea actually, hope to see an underdog. Fray will be there, but I think elevate/carnage could be the dark horse.

Do you and your team plan to continue with Black Ops in Season 2 or move on?


AUX Vox #BPG: I believe we are going to move on to greener pastures. But we will be on the ladder. We will not strat etc, just play cg matches. COD4 will be where we are headed. We have started to play now and continue on following that path.

Well done Dazz on just making the finals rounding out the 8th and last place and congratulations on a successful first season. Unfortunately this means that you're up against Frenetic Array in the first round. How do you plan to cause what would be the biggest upset of the finals series?

dazz #ppg: Thankyou, well all the boys are a bit demoralised at the moment as you can tell having to face the wrath of Fray 1st up however I think we should be able to give them a good run, villa is 1 of our stronger maps so i think it will be an interesting game.

What has been your initial reaction to the mod? How dramatically do you think it affects game play and do you think it being implemented last minute in the finals is good or bad?

dazz #ppg: Personally the mod reminds me a lot of cod 2 having no ambient sound and being able to crouch iron sight without making noise makes it a lot more competitive as u can out smart ur opponent, myself and iG do hope it will be used in the finals as it would be to our advantage against fray.

In the lead up to the Grand Final, which teams do you think will make the Semis?

dazz #ppg: CQR, FT, Fray, Carnage.

Who would be your favourites to make the Grand Final?

dazz #ppg: FT, Fray.

Do you and your team plan to continue with Black Ops in Season 2 or are there plans to move to a different game?

dazz #ppg: Yes defiantly we are looking forward to next season as mod will be implemented hoping it will draw more cod 4 teams which will mean more competitive teams and players for us to learn and play against. The boys are ecstatic to make finals as 4 of them are new to competitive cod so we are going to keep at it keep pushing and hopefully if there is a next season make finals but not get caught in 8th pos only to have to face the wrath of the 1st place team again .
