Hey guys,

It's been a while since I've looked into it but with MW3 and BF3 coming out I'm not sure that I'm gonna be able to crank up the graphics and watch it fly like I used to be able to. My current system specs are as follows:

CPU: i5 750
Mobo: GA-P55-UD3R (yes I know gigabyte, don't bother bringing it up)
Ram: Kingston Hyper-x (2x2GB) 4GB
PSU: 800W (not sure of brand)
GPU: ASUS 5850

I've looked the system specs for both games and I should have no problems running either of them it's just (like anyone I guess) I want to be able to crank the graphics up and have an eye-gasm while not having to deal with graphics lag and the like.

So I guess my question is, would it be worth upgrading just the Gfx card to say a 580gtx and upgrading to say 6 or 8GB of ram, OR just wait it out until the next line of CPU's comes out and do a whole revamp. I realise that my CPU would become the bottleneck in the case I only upgrade my GFX card but I dont particularly want to get into the sandy-bridge (or whatever it is) CPU's only to have it be superseeded in a months time.

By the way, money isn't really an issue here but I'm not a die hard hardware fan where everything has to be the best of the best. I'm probably more of a bang for your buck type buyer, and at the time I bought it, my current system was the go.

Looks good mate, only thing I would consider is another GPU if you want to run on the higher end, maybe a GTX 570 or something along the lines. If it was me, I would just wait until Ivy Bridge is out, it's not like the games will come out and disappear, you could get by with the graphics until then.

For starters... Gigabyte motherboards are awesome.
Yes your CPU is an i5 but this series from Intel are pretty good.
If you do upgrade you graphics and want an "eye-gasm" maybe even going for a GTX 590 with dual GPU or even an ATI 6990 if money is not an issue.. They are the current best cards in the world.
RAM could so with an upgrade, 6GB is ALL you need unless your doing some serious video editing or something.

Here is where you can buy the cards if you go that way.. Click Me

For starters he has the I5 1056 platform which uses dual channel ram... Therefore he cant run 6 gig.

Secondly.
Buying a dual gpu card is a stupid idea.. Especially seeing it will create a cpu and possibly ram bottlneck in his system and that its an utter waste of money for games out these days. Not only that dealing with micro stutters and the fact alot of games don't utilize dual GPU Well..

please dont post your help ever again.

if you want a new card you cant go past a GTX570 Best bang for buck card out.

but like i said.. wait for ivy and any new tech thats out and then consider an upgrade.
if you like for now buy a decent cooler and overclock your cpu.

Much appreciated for all the help guys.

I've been looking on PCCG and have found the ram I originally bought Here (cost me double that when i originally bough it -.-)
I know this is a bit of a noob question but putting in another 4GB in the other 2 available slots on my mobo....will that "work"? Is that essentially putting another dual channel in? And does the RAM have to be the same brand? Or is it ok to having something different on a different channel?

@Kyrii - Do you have any preference or recommendations on the GTX570 brand? I'm seeing from around 350 to 400 price wise on PCCG.

8 gig will not make your computer faster.
i highly doubt if your just playing games your using anywhere close to 4 gig..

as for brand i prefer evga and Asus.
if you want something that will let you crank the gfx for years to come get a 580. then once the 6xx series cards get a second for cheapzors.
your cpu shoud be enough the handle the games.. like i said get a cooler and Overclock..

Lol yeah I'd say we will go through 3 generations of graphics cards before that happens

Anyway - I will definatly be getting one of the afore mentioned games if not both so I'll see how the old girl holds up and make a decision from there. Thanks for the help
