It takes about 5 minutes at the most and usually find Australians but that doesn't matter cause no matter who you verse in the world you don't get lag at all. My advice is to play some offline first before going online so you can get some more characters and some new bikes and cars.

yeah you can choose from using a kart or you can use a motorbike if you like instead.

It was fun when I actually had the wii set up, no lag at all and never feels repetitive. Only problem is it is getting old so I don't know how many people play it now, definitely enough to play a game every time you are on though.I don't advise playing Super smash bros brawl online if u get that as the lag is severe, takes 10 mins to make one move...
