My mate is after a laptop.

His preferences are;

- $1000 - $2000

- MUST have more than 5 hours battery life (take it to uni)

- 15' screen at least

- Good performance, quality and looks decent.

Also has to buy from Harvey Norman for some reason, he probably knows someone.

TY in advance

+1.
they are very fast to load up and quickly work on. Great battery life. the macbook are ultimate for uni work.
if you want something a bit more beefy (say with more RAM for a bit of gaming maybe) look towards some HP Pavillions..i think i saw one for $1200 with a 1gb graphics, 8gb RAM, 750gb HDD.

I recommend getting a 13" as its so much more portable and longer battery life. If its just for anything besides games then you don't really need a massive screen.

I recently got a 13" Sony VAIO SB and put a 120gb SSD in it and its going so good.

(comes in black/white/silver/purple)

(Get vertex 3 if you find out if the harddrive sata connection is 6gbs)

~$1399 total

I would agree with a Macbook if he knows he won't be playing any games.

They have shit battery life don't they? My dv7 is 4 hours max. Unless you can link me to a good battery life HP..

Yeah the mac seems good, battery life, multi tasking etc. Should I recommend him the 15" screen one?

Also he will use it to listen/store all his music, some videos

It needs to be good for entertainment also.

Hmm..

The 13 " has 2.7 ghz, the 15" has 2.2 ghz

Is that good or bad haha, I'm not that knowledgeable when it comes to specs.

Sounds like a Mac is a good fit for what he wants. And if he is only going to use it for school, music etc you dont really need a 15" screen.
