CPU Issue.

Well 2 years ago i got a Core 2 Duo E7400 @ 2.8GHz im a bit worried recently because i have been seein on my windows OS and other things and programs saying that my cpu is 2.8 & 2.3 is there anything wrong, should i be worried or is there nothign wrong?

Don't quote me on this but I'm pretty sure in the second picture, the frequency on the right (2.27GHz) is meant to tell you what it's currently clocked at.

It's power management. When you're not doing anything cpu intesive the frequency is lowered to save power. When you put a load on the cpu it will shoot up to the 2.8 GHZ.

Dowload cpu-z, and monitor the frequency when you unrar/zip something and you'll see.

This! ^^^

There's an option in your BIOS if you wanna go searching for it.

You set it to disable and it won't lower your clock speeds.

That's the best way to get confident with things though...

Anyways, if you **** something up, just take the battery out of your motherboard, then put it back in and it's all good to go again.

Go BIOS and then CPU Configuration disable Intel Speedstep if you want your CPU to stay @ the normal clock speed at all times, speedstep basically idle's your CPU when it's not being used
